July 2nd, 2025 - EDIT
I have multiple combat wounds that, as I have grown older, have demanded more of my attention for a modicum of comfort. I went to Haynes for a Zero Gravity recliner in November 2024.
I should have been warned when they said the delivery fee would be $300. I later found that no one charges more than $100 for delivery of a chair.
When the prescribed delivery day rolled around in January they hurriedly delivered a chair and left before I could verify the delivery. Within a couple of minutes I confirmed that this was not only the wrong chair but a much less expensive unit and I, immediately, notified the delivery people. I was ignored. Despite repeated calls and emails to customer service no one would pick up the chair or even acknowledge I had the wrong chair.
After repeated communication they did start giving me new dates for when I would receive my original chair but after the new delivery date had slipped several times I called the manufacturer. The manufacturer will rarely give you any helpful information. I had to practically beg them to tell me if they had a record of my purchase. They finally said they had not heard from Haynes at all.
Eventually, I sent VISA 23 pieces of documents proving the fraud which VISA acknowledged. Initially Haynes balked at returning the $300 delivery fee. I told VISA and told Haynes I would not pay a delivery charge for something that was never delivered. They had no choice. They finally picked up the chair after 4 months.
I think that the fraud was perpetrated by the sales person putting the $300 on my purchase. She did nothing after to help me. I believe she was in collusion with the delivery company but don't know who led the fraud or why.
The resaon that is not the end is because Haynes never contacted me to apologize, explain or expedite a new delivery. Haynes said and did nothing via Customer Service after they served as a vehicle for the fraud.
I had given my old recliner away when I was told they were delivering the chair. Hence, from early January to just two weeks ago in June I had no way to relieve the discomfort I felt sleeping or just sitting.
Nothing personal here on my part to instigate a fraud but maybe there was some from the salesperson who charged me the $300 and never explained why after. She used terminology I hear often but only in this area and outside the family. These folks get upset when I tell them it is not supposed to be used in a work environment though they will not tell me why they use it and what they think it means. I have worked at every major port from Nova Scotia to Texas and beyond. I was in charge of the Ports of Savanna and Charleston. It was never used. It's not allowed.
The expression is benign. But none locally appear to know the origin of the expression. They use it in a stereotypical manner to identify people. While working I published a monthly cultural newsletter for twenty years. I was featured by the New York Times, awarded a proclamation by the Governor of Pennsylvania and many other awards. I know what the term means. These locals do not. But I have never lived anywhere where people wish to call you a name without your permission and get really angry and indignant when you tell them no.
Nothing personal here against Haynes either. I still have the bedroom set and other items I bought from them when I moved to the area. If you are a Vet, disabled or otherwise, or a minority person not from the local pool of persons then I would not recommend doing business with Haynes if you don't have to.
There was a lot of conversation that allowed me to document the fraud. There was no lack of communication on my end.
The usual is for the business to reply to a negative post by making it appear there has been no prior communication. Those posts are merely meant to raise doubt in your mind about the...
Read moreWe came into Haynes Furniture because we saw the TV commercial where the company CEO was a member of the owner family. He told us about how the company was wholesome and would treat you right and that that was a great place where you could trust the employees. It hasn’t turned out that way.
It turned out that we have spent thousands of dollars from Haynes, for our new home, which needs a lot of improvements. The problem happened when we made a major purchase for flooring and we were told that there was no installation fee.
We had some problems with the people that were installing in our home where we were forced to give them $100 for our no cost installation. The installers were rude to us and were not listening to us when we talked. They wanted to do it their way. We had to get the store on the line with the installers to have them do it what we wanted we are the customers after all. They were not very nice to us and later when the owner of the installation company came to make the repairs complained about the underlayment that they put in that it needed to be changed when it was his people that did that and extorted the hundred dollars from us.
We had agreed to install the molding so we bought wood 3/4" molding and threshold molding to the laundry and closet for example that was real wood and matched the color exactly. When they came in to make the repairs, not only did the molding not match the Island and flooring, it was not wood. It was a plastic threshold and some kind of pressed board material. This was not what we wanted.
I got a call from the store manager, whose name is Chuck. He actually yelled at me, wouldn’t let me tell my story, he talked over me when I was talking, and he bullied me as well. Then he decided to hang up on me when I wanted to tell him my side of the story he wasn’t interested. This is certainly not the way to treat a customer that was from the advertising your company paid to attract. Chuck was very rude to me and disrespectful. He certainly isn’t qualified to be a store manager and to make visits to the customers home and then not call them back so weeks went by after the visit from Norma Chuck and the install guy we heard from nobody so I called Chuck back and said what happened what’s going on? Weeks have gone by.! Chuck says oh I thought that that was already taken care of how were irresponsible for him to make a comment like that like he hadn’t even thought about it again because he thought it had been taken care of well. It wasn’t so he was gonna get back to me more weeks went by Weeks and weeks and I called again oh, wasn’t that taken care of yet he said again unprofessional ! So either Chuck was lying to me or he truly didn’t follow on it to find out that no nothing had happened after his visit!
I would not recommend Haines Furniture, especially if they have to have flooring installed, to anybody.
We were attracted by your tv ad. We bought three bedrooms Of carpeting, bedroom furniture, and thousands of dollars in flooring. Your store manager bullied us. Is this how you treat good customers? ...not very wholesome. Does your CEO know about chuck?
Chuck the store manager told me to call my attorney. I think we will!

Read moreOur sales associate Bill was AWESOME and gave us top notch service. He was professional and he helped us furnish two rooms in our home via two separate transactions because after purchasing one sofa, as we were leaving we saw a livingroom set and made an additional purchase. We were charged $199 for the first sofa and $399 for the second. $600 in total for delivery charges and we asked for an adjustment which we werebtold bybanoyher manager he would remove. Mikeala the "so called" GM refused to accommodate us to remove the $199 delivery charge for the first sofa even though we paid a higher delivery charge for White glove delivery service overall. She would only refund $36 and blamed it on owner policy. The next day due to the pending snow storm I contacted a company that I had hired to remove my old furniture so that I could to delay the pick up. I had already to The Dump and was told they could not give me a reschedule date for my delivery at the time. So I asked the company that I hired to remove my old furniture if they could also pick up my new furniture fromvThe Dump and deliver for an extra fee and they said yes! So I cancelled the delivery with The Dump and requested my $600 delivery be refunded and that is when my troubles began! Mikaela the GM called the warehouse and blocked the order that I paid for stating customer request. She illegally withheld our order for over 3 hours until the owners were notified and got involved, which resulted in the delivery drivers not leaving Williamsburg until after 3:30pm and leaving our home until after 9pm. We even tried to return it at that point and take our business elsewere but she denied the return of our furniture, we were harassed for the delivery company of our choosing, she was argumentative, hung up on my husband, had our delivery blocked and delayed, and stressed us out for 3 days all over a $600 delivery charge, an inflated ego and poor management skills. Mikaela Melso was unjustly discriminatory, revengeful, abrasive, and threatening. I have reached out several times to upper management and have not received a courtesy response from the Regional Alex even though he has said he would address the issue.
I have been a loyal customer both personally and professionally for over 14 years with Haynes and The Dump when customer service used to mean something. A "General Manager" is supposed to set the bar and exemplify honor in the brand they work for. Mikeala Melso did none of this and I am tired of paying for bad service. I no longer support the Haynes brand going forward and will gladly take my and my client's business elsewhere so long as she is a part of it. Overall, I like my furniture but I would have paid more elsewhere for better service. Do...
