Tonight my family and I were at top golf to celebrate my brothers birthday. From start to finish I had a wonderful time. Although I did notice that the bar was understaffed, especially for a holiday weekend. But I also recognize and understand that staff may have called out for the holiday weekend. Beyond that, it was a great evening!!!
Every. Single. Staff member that I came in contact with tonight met me with a positive attitude and a smile. Anything that slightly went misarray was dealt with and handled with care, compassion, and a smile. Tonight the entire grid that va beach top golf was on lost power. The staff was prompt to check on and care for and update the guests on what to expect, continuously and frequently, while also maintaining a smile and positivity. From front desk check in staff, to bartenders, to food runners, to servers, to busters, to management, and anyone there that was working went above and beyond to ensure that all guests were taken care of, communicated with, and made to feel safe.
As someone who has been in the industry for many years, I am so HAPPY, PROUD, ELATED, FIST PUMPS IN THE AIR!!!! (It’s tee shirt time) of how this establishment handled the fiasco of losing power. They worked as a team and kept smiles on their faces.
Top golf also did not charge us for our “bay rental” and are covering all tabs (at least for my “party” as far as I know) and I was astonished by this act. This is something the company should be proud of, even if it means losing out sometimes. Instead of being “money hungry” they made sure everyone there was FIRST AND FOREMOST SAFE* but they also did not allow the stress and pressure of a MAJOR power outage ruin their guests nights. And that says A LOT for a major corporation.
SO DONT FORGET THAT CORPORATE!!! IT IS OUR LOCALS DOING THIS AND PROVIDING A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!!!!! They are absolute ROCKSTARS!!!!!
I HOPE YOU ARE ALL PROUD OF YOURSELVES TONIGHT!!!!!
Read moreWe came to play some golf and then decided have lunch in their little restaurant. The staff in the game area are very lovely and attentive. I think they place their more experienced employees in the bays. The service bar/restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. My suggestion: come for the golf and don't bother eating here.
The good: atmosphere, cleanliness. Even with open ceilings, it's not too noisy. The place is also very sleek and clean. Our waitresses in both the bay and at the table are both very nice. The golfing is fun and even though some of us are bad at it, it was still enjoyable. The bay seats are also heated which is great on a chilly day.
The meh: Although she was very sweet, our restaurant waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing. I could tell she was probably new since she didn't know the menu. Members of our party had dietary restrictions and requested the available gluten free substitutions, to which she replied, "We don't have that." She then rescinded that after we pointed it out on the menu for her. There were a few other times where she seemed very uncertain or confused. The food is also... meh. It's not bad. It's not amazing. It's serviceable. I probably wouldn't eat here again, unless I was in a bay and got particularly hungry. I'd rather leave and go to an actual restaurant nearby.
The bad: The food runners are impolite and consistently confused. They kept getting confused which table had which food. They also didn't know the food items themselves beyond "this is a burger." Okay, which one though? We sorted it out ourselves. We also had one food item messed up (it was supposed to be gluten free). The waitress wanted to ring up another bun and bring it out, but my aunt told her she'd eat it without the bun and that she didn't want it. I guess she didn't relay this or didn't hear my aunt, because a food runner came out much later after everyone was already finished eating with a gluten free bun. We told him we didn't want it and explained the situation, but he clicked his tongue at us and rolled his eyes before walking off in a huff. It's not our fault the food was made wrong! And my aunt didn't want to wait to eat until after everyone was done...
Read moreThis was my first, and definitely last, experience at Top Golf. I was there with a group on people. We sat at a table downstairs to eat and drink while waiting for our bays to be available. We sat at a table, I ordered a water while we were deciding on other drinks and food. We had asked the server to let us move to a larger table if one became available. A larger table came open and the server seated us at it. The server did not bring my drink and was never to be seen again after seating us at the larger table. We sat at the table for approximately 30 minutes waiting on someone to take our orders. Servers, “shift leads” and managers all passed by us, seeing no drinks or food on the table, and ignored us. When a server finally came over, our bays were ready, so we went upstairs. We needed two bays due to the size of our group. We had asked ahead of time to have the bays be next to each other so that our group wouldn’t be split up. We were told that they couldn’t do that and that bays were assigned at random. When we got to the first bay, one next to it immediately freed up. So we asked to have that one be our second bay. The manager REFUSED. So they gave us a bay way far away from the rest of the group, and then assigned the neighboring bay we wanted to a different group. We asked that party if they would be willing to trade bays. They were amenable to that, but were told by Top Golf employees that they could not do that. Our group got separated, but ended up being two bays apart. A few of the people in my party ordered food. The food arrived. Except that one person did not get her food. It took TWO HOURS for her food to arrive, well after everyone else had gotten their food. The drinks were also painfully slow (20+ minutes). The managers we extremely rude throughout the whole experience. We ended up with a server named Dee. Dee was absolutely wonderful! She was a fantastic waitress and provided high quality customer service. They should promote her to manager because her customer service skills go far above and beyond that of the current “managers”. Needless to say, my whole party was disappointed by the experience, but made the best of...
