Be wary of the so-called regenerative procedures offered here. The PRP, I can say firsthand, can have a devastating effect. I sought PRP treatment for a non-healing soft tissue injury of the big toe - turf toe, essentially. The Regenexx regenerative procedures performed here are advertised as being done with imaging guidance to target the exact area where it is needed. When my PRP was done, no such imaging was used. My big toe joint was filled up with PRP, treated as if I was suffering from osteoarthritis, which ever doctor I had seen prior to that said I was not. My X-rays did not show any loss of cartilage, let alone any bone spurs. However, unless he looked at them in another room, I do not believe the doctor even looked at my X-ray or MRI. My toe was treated like the inside of the joint was the problem, like it would be with someone whose cartilage had worn away. The fact that no imaging was used and that the true problem area did not seem to get little, if any, PRP - I believe - is the reason for my complications. My toe was inflamed to the point that I could not get it into a regular shoe for 3 months - 3 times as long as what you're told to expect. Even after I could, it remained stiff. I should note that stiffness was not part of my original problem - the pain came from stretching of the tissue on the bottom of the toe, but there was nothing physically preventing that movement from happening. The stiffness was something purely brought on by the PRP. When the inflammation and swelling had finally dissipated, my toe was still stiff and there was now what appeared to be a rim of extra bone on the top of toe joint. THIS HAD NOT BEEN THERE BEFORE! My toe was immobile for 3 months and only partially mobile for another couple after that, so there was no "wear and tear" going on from activities that could have caused that during that time period. I knew the PRP had caused it somehow. One of the doctors who has looked at it recently advised that the tightening of the joint that occurred from the PRP likely caused the bone overgrowth, because that kind of tension can cause bone spurs to develop. So there you have it - I went in expecting an imaging-guided PRP injection into my soft tissue and instead got a joint space filled with PRP it didn't need, no imaging, with the end result being bone spurs that, to this day, almost 3 years later, continue to impeded the motion of my toe and cause pain. Rejuv - before you post your copy/paste response about how you take patient concerns seriously, I'll save you the trouble and cut straight to what you need to do to make it right - give me back every dollar I paid you and don't do this to anyone...
Read moreRejuv changed my life. I mean that. I've had their Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections on my joints in my lower back and it's helped me tremendously. I am truly thankful for Rejuv because I thought I had run out of options. I had tried physical therapy, steroid injections, inversion tables, heating pads, ice packs, pain pills, you name it, I tried it. It wasn't until I read about PRP, sent them a copy of my MRI and got my first treatment that I finally started to get some relief. Each time I've gone back, I feel a little bit better. I am now back to riding my bike and working out in the gym.
I've had a 90% improvement with my pain. My pain pills have collected a lot of dust! Even better -- the results are durable. I had 4 treatments done (Oct. 2014, Jan. 2015, Oct. 2015 and the last one being November 2016). I don't see myself needing to have to go back, which is awesome (unlike a chiropractor that wants you to keep coming back again and again to make money off of you). It also shows that just because your MRI shows degenerated discs, that does NOT necessarily mean your pain is coming FROM the discs -- it could be from something else not showing up on your MRI (i.e. facet joints).
Please note, PRP does not regenerate discs, it's for facet joints, which can also be extremely painful. Costs about $1,200 per treatment, but worth every penny. Insurance is doubtful to cover. The initial phone consultation with Dr. Baumgartner was free (some places will charge you). You also get a 10% discount with subsequent treatments. The only constructive criticism is that they should have a list of reminders before getting PRP done (i.e. do not take any aspirin or painkillers for 10 days since it could impact your platelets). I had to change a lot of bad habits (i.e. lifting techniques) that led to my back pain, but otherwise, Rejuv gave me my life back. And it...
Read moreI have mixed feelings for Rejuv Medical. I sought out functional medicine after traditional medicine could not (or would not) find the culprit leading to my symptoms. Rejuv quickly ordered me labs to assess a plan, and my doctor (no longer at this location) was great at listening to my concerns and situation. A couple of things I wasn't too happy with: one of my test results came back as a triple-positive for EBV. Triple positives usually mean reactivation, but the lab tech didn't notate it as such and just said it was a case of mono (according to online chart). I was called by Rejuv notifying me that my fatigue symptoms were from a current case of "mono" despite my symptoms starting three years ago. Regardless, I am not a medical professional and trusted their advice.. but their advice was to purchase two expensive supplements from their attached store. I am a college student - I do not have disposable income to just drop of a couple of overpriced supplement types that are only available at their location. At this point, my care as a patient and individual turned from personable to a strained sales attempt hoping to gain by my fear and trust in their system. I just don't like that. The one-stop-shop concept is great until its not - it eventually becomes more about profit than people to utilize all functions in-house... thus, creating a tunnel vision that hurts patients as a result.
I didn't go back to my follow-up because I didn't want to be pressured into spending money I didn't have on these supplements. However, I did learn about that I have lower cortisol levels and about my EBV results (tested a triple positive AGAIN last week). I wouldn't have found out this trend or know about my lower cortisol levels in a nonfunctional medicine clinic, so I do appreciate...
