In my second visit I was very disappointed with the food and service. I love the atmosphere and feel the potential is there. Upon entry I noticed one of the specials was ribs with Mac n cheese. I sat at the bar and after a couple minutes was greeted by the bartender Crystal. I ordered my usual Seagram's seven and coke. I wasn't informed that it was happy hour and if I got rail whiskey it was two for one. I then asked about the ribs and was pleased that I could substitute the mac n cheese for another side. I ordered bake potato and a side salad that also comes with the entree. I requested french and blue cheese dressing and noooo cucumbers. When the salad came it had cucumbers. Crystal didn't just remove them she made a new salad which is great. Then as I was pouring my dressings on I decided I'd better taste the blue cheese. It was Ranch. So Crytal got my Blue cheese. I must preface the fact that I am a BBQ connoisseur and when people say ribs should be falling off the bone they're incorrect they should actually have a slight tug before coming off the bone. The end bone on mine was litterally laying on the plate. I used a fork (something I never do) and broke of some meat. after three bites I found the ribs to be way overcooked and mushy. I then tried the baked potato and found it to be very undercooked, hard and raw. If I ever want a steak (their supposed specialty). The manager/owner (not sure which) was there and removed my dinner from my bill but never talked to me about my concerns. I also notice they don't respond to reviews anymore and when they did it was mostly only to the 5 star ones. I may come back but I doubt it. 3 stars is being generous. I also noticed people came in for dinner prior to the concert at the Ledge. Mistakes in service can happen but I would think the food...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try this local place for his birthday. I called in the order for pickup. It was a large order(3 apps and 3 dinner entrees). First off, the male employee who took the order had to check what kind of sauce Mavericks signature sauce was and what the housemade soups were. The employee then told me that it would take about 30 minutes, which he didn't even seem confident about. I get there 30 minutes after hanging up and tell a female server that I was there for a pickup order. A minute later, a different female server comes out with three bags containing the order. I pay my balance and leave. I live less no more than 10 minutes from this establishment. The food was already lukewarm and my cheese curds were cold. The sirloins were really tough and not seasoned at all, they also had that burnt charbroiled taste. The cheesy hash browns were overcooked and burned. The cilantro/lime rice was cold and hard. The wings were undercooked. The egg rolls were overcooked and seriously overpriced (2 for $10). The entrees come with housemade soup or salad and a choice of side. You can choose to upgrade your side for a dollar or two. My husband upgraded his side for a dollar for the cheesy hash browns but when I looked at my receipt it seemed as though there was upcharge for the soup, too. As you can see in the photos, the establishment has failed to update their prices on their own website.
Overall, I paid for less than mediocre food and the employee who took the order probably should have checked with a server about the estimated time for the order to be ready. I'm sure my food was ready in 15-20 minutes not the 30 he quoted but I figured they might have been busy.
Will not be returning and do not recommend this place at all unless your taste...
Read moreOur server was nice and friendly, but WOW I exoected more from a “steak house”! Appetizers Had the Walleye Roll that was basically an attempt at sushi super fishy tasting, but the spicy Mayo was good. The Chislic was fair small potion for the price, but again the sauce (like a honey BBQ) was good. The Nachos were surprisingly good with a good amount of toppings. Dinner salads were basic —,couple croutons and 1 slice of cucumber. Only offered chili for their soup which was very tasty but no beans. The Walleye dinner is deep fried and looked like a Friday night fish fry but with no taste despite being coated in their “seasoning”, the Cajun Fettuccine was had the “Cajun” flavor but no spice Ed’s which I thought was weird, the Ribeye and Sirloin were cooked as preferred and actually pretty good the sirloin more so than the ribeye. However, the Dessert was AWESOME ~ the Carrot Cake was moist and flavorful and the Donuts were very good but they were “balls” about the size of almost a tennis ball with dulce de leche dipping sauce and about 8 to the order.
Overall disappointed ~ Service was extremely slow but they weren’t busy, ALL food was cold (even the baked potato!) and had been clearly sitting for awhile. A little questionable about the freshness of the food. No drink menu which is odd since they also offer craft beers and wine. Acoustics in the place aren’t the best and gets loud and echo-y.
I might go back for Happy Hour as that got decent reviews but probably not for dinner. Sad as I can’t believe that St. Cloud can’t support restaurants but has a million fast food joints! Aldi hoping that they...
