We shop at Aldi for good price. Shopping experience is generally positive. However, the staff in this store (Aldi Walpole MA) are under a lot of stress, especially for the guys who shelf the stocks. There are a few circumstances when we asked for advice / direction and were told by the staff that he does not know. We know he knows but he might not have the time to help. There was another incident that he yelled at my daughter (4 y/o) for eating 1 grape (because they sell by the pound). We know that was wrong but we were hoping he would not speak so loud to scare her and made a scene out of it. Today, I was looking to get some fruit and noticed the ones in the cart/trolley look a lot better than the ones on the shelf so I asked if I can pick from the cart/trolley. The young man gave me a smirk and said to my face "ABSOLUTELY NOT". I did not know why that was because all the fruits will go on the shelf eventually anyways. I wish he could have said "sorry madam you can't take it from here because of what reason" instead of a mysterious smile then a harsh "ABSOLUTELY NOT". I understand the stress of the job (and I have one too) but under no circumstances one should lose their professionalism in a customer-facing setting. Anyways, the ladies working as cashier are sweet and always say hi to my daughter and tell her how adorable she is, so much so my daughter asks to go through their aisles when we pay for the purchase. So there are some nice people who make us want to come back. We think we will still come back because the price is hard to beat. But we hope the corporation could do something to alleviate the stress of the staff so they have time to breathe and respond to the customers nicely and politely when...
Read moreVery convenient location for a grocery store, I work out in this plaza, am frequently dropping amazon returns at Kohl's, and this plaza is directly on my way home from work which saves me a 10 min detour going to other stores on route 1. The store layout is set up really well for fast and efficient trips. Aisles are spacious and laid out well. Good selection of items my family eats. Much better prices than stop & shop and Big Y. Yes, like all Aldi's you need to either bring bags or purchase bags, and they will not bag your groceries for you. Bring a quarter (or use a spare key) for the carriage. I will still shop at Wegmans and Trader Joe's for certain items but on days when I am on a time crunch this will be my go-to. Only feedback I have: I perused the produce section two or three times and couldn't find avocados (I was shopping on a Sunday night maybe they were out). I'd love to see a broader selection of protein bars, including some that are non-dairy besides perfect bars. And I'd love an unsweetened option for soy milk or oat milk for those with dietary restrictions who can't have nuts or dairy, and need to also...
Read moreWhen we go to the Walpole mall for the Kohl's or food, we may stop by there.
As a grocery store it has some things you may not find elsewhere but generally a lot of things you may need when preparing a meal, you may not find there, so very often this store can't be your only stop. We have never been able to do all of our shopping there. Even when we only need a few things.
Other gripes are that they don't have any baskets to carry your groceries and you need to have a quarter if you want to get a cart, and if you choose not to get a cart or don't have a quarter, but you figure with two people you can just carry the things you came in for, they don't have enough room after the cashier to store your things after they ring them up, so unless you buy one of their plastic bags (because of course they don't have bags) or bring your own which you may always have on you in California, but not here, then you have to quickly pick up your stuff after they ring them up.
It's nice to visit occasionally but there are a lot of issues...
