Beautiful hospital, amazing care - walked in to the front door and asked for directions to the ED. The woman behind the desk asked her colleague to cover for her while she walked downstairs to ED registration with me. Registration clerk was professional, both the triage nurse and my primary ED RN were thorough and compassionate and explained what they were doing. Dr. Hunt assessed and ordered labs, a CT and then an ultrasound all of which were done fairly quickly. The CT and ultrasound techs walked me through their processes and then a few hours later, Dr. Hunt returned and explained all of the results and follow-up recommendations for care. It was the best healthcare experience I've had. Totally top-notch experience.

Downright horrible care and disgusting negligence. The nurses do not care if you are in pain or in need of help. You can push the nurse call button a hundred times and nobody will come for 5-10 minutes, and when they do finally arrive they will be terribly rude, dismissive, and completely devoid of empathy. I’ve never seen anything like it
it’s genuinely shocking. If you value your health and your time, go literally anywhere else. This hospital is an embarrassment to Wareham and the entire hospital system.

09/04/24 Taken to Tobey via ambulance. Dr. Bernier was fantastic and I wish I could have her every time because she actually listens and cares!!!! My er nurse, Steph was also very attentive and sympathetic! Loving the new team they have in radiology too minus Tony.

6/24/23 Emergency doctor Michelle was absolutely wonderful. She was beyond knowledgeable about the conditions I suffer and was very understanding.

Kerry was a fabulous and attentive nurse with great bedside manner. She doesn't like to waste time and she likes to get the job done right, the first time. I respect people like that.

3rd floor nurses #310 John is always an absolute pleasure.

Liz and Michelle did okay with overnights but I'm pretty sure I saw their CNA more than I saw them. And if they did come in I felt as though I was a bother to them.

Taylor was fabulous especially when assisting me. While I was non-stop vomiting in buckets and in my hospital bed. She was there for mentally and physically.

Cathy is always a pleasure and always on top of things.

6/26

Liz was attentive and kind during the overnight.

Morning Blonde young polish nurse did great with my EKG

Nurse Kellie was difficult. She didn't like me for whatever reasons. Terrible bedside manner. I have been listening to my IV pole beep for over an hour and 15 minutes. When I press the silence button when she came in she screamed at me and I told her I'm not going to sit here and listen to this. I'm not pushing any buttons. I'm just pushing silence. I already called the front desk and let them know and I've been sitting here waiting over an hour for pain, meds, nausea meds and a new IV bag. I cried while I was alone. Waiting and waiting twaiting. Wondering why are they ignoring me?

I was even moved back to clears from NPO and nobody told me, never got a lunch. I asked my nurse for a couple jello and have yet to see that jello.

CNA Maria is fabulous with bedside manner of someone like a relative.

6/27

Rhonda I absolutely adore her as a person and as a nurse. Our bedside manner is one of the nicest I've come across. She always has wonderful ideas and she is extremely comforting as well as a great advocate.

Stefanie was extremely helpful and listened with love. She also helped clean up my IV that was bleeding and made sure it was safe and no contam.

Special shout outs to blood draws by Therese and Beatrize who were very gentle Waking me up early in the morning, extremely kind and barely felt the blood draw.

Rhonda: Fortunate enough to have Rhonda be morning and day nurse. She helped me through a triggering anxiety attack was going through. She was always very concerned yet nothing breaks the focus she has for her patients.

Lynn was beyond a delight from the second I met her. She was very professional, direct she caring. This was my first time having Lynn as a nurse. I felt like I've had her numerous times with how well she knew my chart! Feeling safe in the hands of your nurse is absolutely priceless.

Jim/James was my CNA for and he made sure I had what I needed such as face clothes or new bedding from an IV blood accident. He was always on top of taking vitals.

Liz had me overnight and although she came later for my IV bag call call, she still came with my scheduled medication. She was kind to me.

6/29

Shannon was my morning day nurse. She was very very attentive to my pain and nausea. She was always on time with medications and sweet because manner.

Lynn was my nurse for the rest of the day into the evening. Seeing her walk in and my nurse again I instantly felt safe and comforted.

Then the fire drill and 2 hours late to call button.

Omana was my overnight nurse and she was extremely knowledgeable as well as a compassionate listener. I felt safe going to sleep knowing that she would be there for me if I woke up in severe pain or throwing up. This was my first time having her as a nurse. she was very sweet but also very professional and intelligent while explaining. Night time is usually hard for me, having her there was extra comforting especially...

I wanted to send a letter regarding my experience in Tobey Hospital Wareham ER, on 3/9/17, arriving about 8:30. I was experiencing quite a lot of pain in my abdomen, which was rigid and distended.

First stop triage. The nurse there was pleasant enough, but when we were through, she told me to follow her. I was very much in pain at this point and when I came in, I put my coat and purse on the floor. She stood there watching me try to pick them up, in obvious pain. She did not even offer pick up my coat off the floor or ask if I needed help, just stood there, watching me struggle. Then, she walks away briskly, and I was trying to follow her, but it hurt to walk. She basically took off and I had to look in rooms along the way to find her.

Almost everyone, not all, people I encountered in the ER that night were either rude or just with a blank, flat, annoyed or negative affect. Working as a hospice social worker, I see disgruntled employees in healthcare (sadly) all the time. That’s what I felt
.that I was a nuisance, rather than someone who needed help. No compassion. At. All. I had an intestinal infection and it was getting worse at I sat there.

I was given pain meds and the nurse left. No one returned to check on me to see if it was helping. It was not. 25 minutes later, I had to buzz for the nurse. I was crying and shaking. They then gave me something else which gave me some relief (now 2 hrs after I came to the ER). I asked if I could have water now (I even had my own but when I first arrived they told me I couldn’t drink yet), they went to check and never returned.

Change of shift. Now, it’s past 11 and the nurse that came in then was even ruder. I asked her if I could please have some water, that I’ve been asking and no one is responding. You would have thought I asked her for a kidney. With evident annoyance, she went to get me water. When she came back to say I could be discharged, it was after 1am and the pain meds were quickly wearing off and the pain was coming back. I asked her if I could have something else for pain and she told me if she did, I’d have to stay 4 more hours and that I “wouldn’t want that.” In a sense, yes, I wanted to be discharged, but to walk out of an ER with pain like that, quite bothered me. As she reviewed my discharge meds, I asked her if I could take something with me to take home for pain. She said “no, we don’t do that.” I asked “what do you mean, you don’t do that? I am in pain. Can I please just have ONE pill to take home with me until the antibiotics kick in.” Again, she replied with “no, we don’t do that.” I then asked for the Dr., as I was not going to walk out like this. Still clearly annoyed, she comes back with one pill (which is all I needed/wanted). But the way she treated me was like some junkie begging for a bottle of Oxycodone. One pill. One. Just for that one night. Then she told me that I can’t take it until I get home (which was fine, as I only live 2 miles away.) She proceeded to tell me (again with obvious annoyance that she had to go to the Dr. to get the one pill), that if I get into an accident, I have to pay everything out of pocket for my ER visit, since my insurance won’t cover me. Ahhh, more compassion.

I do want to say that my attending Dr. (a female), and that gal who transported me to my CAT scan were kind and gentle and though I only saw them briefly, they were the only ones I saw with a smile for my entire visit.

In pain, alone and uncomfortable and this is the care I receive. How sad
.how very...

My children are officially tougher than me. How is it that they can have multiple ear infections and not be screaming their heads off. I'm literally in tears and feel like a huge baby! Thank god Tobey Hospital is so on point and got me in and out in less than an hour and started me on antibiotic. Thanks for always having my back, Tobes. They surely don't get enough credit!

I have been going there for my emergency needs for as long as I can remember. Besides one bad er experience (with a female dr who was clearly having a bad day) I have always left feeling better.

I have had two live child births for my two perfect boys and my maternity stay was phenomenal. The staff in the ER, children's and Maternity ward are kind and there to make your stay feel friendly and at home. They listen to your needs and try to help as best they can.

My sister had her appendix rupture when she was 4 and I can remember the care they gave that long ago because it made that much of an impact. She almost died that day due to negligence on her pediatricians part (took three different doctors to look at her and said she just had the flu because her pain tolerance was so high)

Dr Conway took one look at her (at this point he was the fourth dr) and said "I want a catscan done on her immediately. She does not look right and something is dangerously wrong" and he was right. The staff in her surgery were hit with a terrible realization that her appendix had burst hours beforehand and had to improvise with a gangrenous organ. They were there every step to let us know what happened and why the surgery was taking longer.. they even filled us in on why this happened (not why her appendix was inflamed in the first place but more so the dangers of her oediatricians not taking the proper precautions and having her seen..

That being said, my children only see Dr Conway and now Dr Libby at wareham pediatrics and I only go to Tobey.

Thank you to whoever read my story. I feel as though people look down on Tobey hospital and I know people who've had terrible unfortunate experiences with them... but I have never felt personally victimized by Tobey Hospital (yes that was a mean girls reference) and I will Continue to use them for myself, my children, and if I ever have...
