Spoiler alert: TERRIBLE SERVICE AND RACIAL PROFILING! I would HIGHLY suggest that everyone, ESPECIALLY African Americans, DONâT SUPPORT this business!!!!!
I never write reviews, but my experience here in July 2019 was so awful that I have to! Iâm new to the area and have been looking for a beauty supply store when a friend recommended this store. The store is large and appears to have a wide variety of items. Upon entering the store, I began searching for a few items, but because the store is so large, I decided to ask for assistance in order to avoid wasting time just aimlessly searching. I began seeking out someone for help. After searching a few aisles for help I finally spot someone and decide to approach them. I wasnât initially sure if the individual was an employee or a shopper because when I first saw her she seemed to be perusing a rack of items. As I approached her I noticed that she was frequently peering at 2 women nearby and seemed to stay near them as well. I approached her anyway and I proceeded to politely ask if she worked here and might be able to assist me. She was so consumed with watching the other 2 women that she didnât even see me approach her or hear my question, so I repeated my earlier question, only slightly more louder this time, thinking that maybe I spoke to quietly the first time. This startled her. Finally, it dawned on me that this woman (the employee) was so consumed with following and watching the other two womenâs every action that she didnât even see me approaching her or hear me when I first spoke! I was immediately annoyed and offended! I promptly told the other two women that she was following them and had been watching them, at which time the employee promptly walked away (Yes, she was within ear shot and heard me!). I suggested to both women that they not spend their money there or anyplace that they were blatantly being racially profiled! I politely sat my items down and proceeded to leave the store. I will not support businesses that blatantly discriminate against individuals. Whatâs most disheartening is that African Americanâs makeup the majority of the consumer population at beauty supply stores and we repeatedly shop at these places that donât value us! This place would easily go out of business if we stopped supporting them! I would HIGHLY suggest that everyone, ESPECIALLY African Americans, DONâT SUPPORT this business!!!!! Unfortunately, both women who I notified of the discriminatory behavior still purchased items (one stated that she knew that the employee was following her). Stand for something or fall for anything! Iâm standing and I hope this review helps others...
Read moreSadly as a long time customer I received horrible customer service today and will not returning.
I have purchased multiple items from this business on a regular basis as well as exchanging over the years. As one would do at any other establishment if its not the right item or no longer needed. I also buy hair for clients so it's convenient when they change color/style. I came in today to exchange an item (as I did 2-3 weeks ago bc some color shades aren't universally the same. The item was entirely too light. I simply asked "although I do not have a receipt this time could I do store credit if not its ok." The cashier removed the item from its packaging messed it up just to grab an associate in the back before even saying if I could exchange it or not. I thought she was going to say yes bc they way she took it out and saw it wasn't used. The 2nd associate came and messed with the wig again messing up packaging as well and said they don't exchange wigs at all w or w/o receipts. I stated that I had exchanged the few wks prior with a receipt. She stated I was incorrect in which I wasn't, which is why I liked the location. Besides its under $30 not thinking it'd be a big deal if they said yes or no. Unbeknownst to me they called the female security to shadow me AS I was talking to them and irritated but calm never raising my voice as a customer helped me put the package back together which we couldn't even do bc they messed it up that much. Mind you this was a brand new unworn wig. I had to go back in line (another 15 min wait) to buy the rest of my items. I still didn't recognize that they had associates staring and following me until a customer told me. That was very unnecessary and unsettling considering I never raised my voice, used foul language or anything that would warrant that behavior. That was a violating experience and in a sense profiling. I can respect a policy and that's fine but that was COMPLETELY uncalled for especially for a $20 item I just needed a darker shade. I mean for jeez sakes it's only $20 and I said if it was possible if not ok. Today was the last day I'd shop with them and I'll never suggest them again. I honestly wish I known they were shadowing me otherwise I wouldn't even returned in line or continued to spend money with them. I hope no one else will experience this especially considering how long and often ive been frequenting there but I...
Read moreTHEY WON'T TELL YOU ABOUT THEIR REWARDS PROGRAM! I received bad customer service from here last night. As I was paying for my items, I overheard the customer next to me asking the cashier who was ringing her up if she had any points on her rewards card. I then asked the cashier who rang me up, if they had a rewards program. She replied, âyes, but if you sign up today, you wonât get anything.â Itâs as if she didnât want me signing up! I was appalled. Every time Iâve come to this place, no associate has ever asked me if I had rewards or if I wanted to sign up! I only heard about their rewards program from another customer! Seemingly, the associate wouldâve explained the details of the rewards program and encouraged me to sign up. I see that you guys donât tell people about the rewards because you donât want people saving money. You want to get as much money as you can out of people. Iâve spent a ton of money in this place over the last couple of years and have never heard about the rewards program, and thatâs sad! Because of this shady practice, I will no longer be shopping at Kelly beauty. For everyone else reading this review, make sure you ask to sign up for the rewards program so you can save money because the shady associates here wonât tell you. Black people spend way too much money in these places for them not to tell us about their rewards program. They just want to take as much money as...
