Well, I blame it on COVID mental health and poor management decisions. I have always had a wonderful experience at TJ Max shopping with family and friends and rarely walk out the door with under $200 worth of merchandise.
Today I got to the counter and there was a nice young girl working her first day at the cash register. Thatās ok we were all new once.
However the credit card machine was not operating correctly and she said as much, āIām sorry maāam, this machine has been doing this all day.ā Thatās a bummer, maybe you should get a new machine, or shut this one down temporarily ā, I suggested; as try as we might, neither one of us could get it to go through.
Thoughtfully, she called for a associate assistance.
Ashley arrived and was already elevated having been called off from what she was doing prior.
āItās the machine, itās acting up again.,ā the girl said and Ashley went right to her work. She had me attempt three more times and at the point payment was declined by the bank for too many attempts.
Ashley: Well what do you want to do, try another card then? she said in a snippy tone as if I was inconveniencing her.
Me: Not really, now this CC isnāt going to work for the rest of day and Iām not about to use another CC and risk having another card blocked.
Ashley: Ok well thanks, She said coldly.
Me: You are being kind of snippy, I replied.
At this she screeched at the top of her lungs so the whole store could hear NO IM NOT!
Ok , will I shop here again? Most likely. However, this was not a pleasant experience and I would like to makes e a couple of suggestions:
If a CC machine is not working correctly, please take it out of service. Thatās not fair to your customers. I spent a good hour shopping and walked away without anything to show for it and you lost a healthy purchase.
Please council Ashley on conflict resolution and customer service.
If this happens again apologize to your customer and move to another machine for the transaction.
Grace please. Show some kindness during these stressful times. Hereās some from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lucked out and found all the items I was looking for at this TJMaxx. Some of them were even on clearance.
For a small community, this TJMaxx has as large -- perhaps larger -- of a selection as my usual TJMaxx stores that serve a population 10 times larger.
All the employees were helpful -- I was even asked if I was finding things OK by a staff member who was on the sales floor.
The cashier who rang up my items was beyond nice, and she made me feel very welcome.
Plus, the bathroom was super clean.
Update: On my most recent visit I had an overall positive experience, except for one issue.
The cashier must have been working to meet a quota on signing up customers for the TJ Maxx store credit card. She asked once if I would sign up for it to save 10% on that day's purchase.
I said no. This is usually where every cashier in my history of shopping at TJ Maxx takes no for an answer and continues with scanning my purchase.
This cashier asked a second time. Again, I said no.
When I went to pull out the card I was using to pay for the purchase, she stated, "Well, if you're using those, you should apply for the TJ Maxx card". I, once again, said no, I would not be applying.
She asked ONE MORE TIME.
I felt her behavior was beyond anything normal for a cashier. Ask once. Take the "no". Don't ask again. And don't judge how I pay for my purchase or be attentive to HOW I'm paying. That is my business, not the business of the cashier.
There are a possible thousand reasons why someone would not want to apply for a new credit card. And it's none of that cashier's business.
I sincerely hope she isn't working the registers on my next visit, because if it happens again, I will walk out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the cashiers either forgot to give my mom one of her bags (and never admitted to it when we called to inquire about it once we realized the bag was missing), or she purposefully tried to hide it under her register... When my mom went back in with her receipt to get a refund, she saw one of her purchases had been restocked (she bought the very last of each item -- they were all unique), and the others were discovered hidden under the cashier's register. No apology from management. They also accused my mom of lying, prior to the discovery of the bag hidden under the register. We will never be shopping at...
