My wife and I took my wife’s wedding ring to have a band attached for our 15 year anniversary. We were ensured by the receptionist they do they soldering there and do not send it away. They only give you a receipt for the work to be replaced and nothing else. After a week they called and told us that the ring was ready. Upon picking up the ring my wife asked them to read the diamond’s certified number inscription for verification. The jeweler said they cannot because they don’t have a microscope.
The jeweler asked for the diamond numbered and she did not give it to them (as common sense would dictate so they don’t just read it back to her without verifying the diamond). He then tried to tell my wife he did work for the mayor which we found irrelevant and made it clear as such.
My wife refused to accept and pay for the ring until they could read the diamond number. The jeweler, upset at the situation, had to go and get a microscope to verify it the diamond number. Finally after at least an hour the jeweler obtained a proper microscope and read the number off the diamond. My wife gladly paid and went about her business without ever being rude during the entire transaction.
My question is how can you do proper solder work AND be a respectful jeweler without basic equipment such as a microscope? It doesn’t matter whom you do work for because everyone is equally entitled to the same great quality work and service which was not provided. They will not be receiving our...

It was an absolute pleasure to see her in person especially when she recalled the conversation she had with me days ago. I loved that. While I understand I'll likely be spending more to get my watch repaired there than I would if I shopped around it was close by, easy to find, so beautiful inside, well maintained, and organized, and definitely owned and operated by someone who takes pride in offering awesome customer service so it's money well spent.
