Mandarin Sushi — Restaurant in Warrenton

I’ve been coming here for many years. The food has gone down as of the last year. There were no prices listed, so my sister and I asked for the prices. We had 4 children with us. The lady asked us to give her a moment. She brought us a receipt saying how much it would cost to eat there. The total was $107 and some change. We thought this price was outrageous. Not only were we charged about $12 per child, who really isn’t gonna even eat like that. We were also gonna be charged a automatic gratuity of $16.98. The tax, $9.24.

We felt that we shouldn’t be charged as a party, when our group is majority children. We told her prior to this we wanted to decide if we will be dining in after we find out the pricing, because we had 4 children with us. We ended up deciding that $107 was not worth it and we left to go try Ledos down the way. As we were walking out, the lady who gave us the pricing on a receipt to help us decide, yelled at me to give her the receipt back because we didn’t pay for it. Her name was IVY, according to the receipt she typed up for us.

I looked at her crazy and she was really acting crazy over a receipt paper. She said because we decided that we weren’t gonna dine there, due to the insanely high prices, to give her the RECEIPT PAPER back. Now, how much does it truly cost to print a receipt??? There’s no way you think it’s okay to demand the receipt from me, just because I decided not to eat there. Receipts don’t cost a thing to print & HELL WOULD FREEZE OVER BEFORE I LET YOU TRY TO EMBARRASS ME IN FRONT OF EVERYONE BECAUSE WE MADE A DIFFERENT CHOICE.

TL:DR restaurant double charged us and won’t refund the extra charge like they said they would.

I’ve been twice now, the first time was a good experience and the second time I mistakenly thought it would be a good idea to bring my mother in law. The food was alright, could’ve been more fresh on the buffet line. The sushi was pretty good. My kids enjoyed the ice cream. Men’s restroom was terrible, so much so that my husband took my son down to the grocery store bathroom instead of the restaurant’s disgusting one. Waitstaff was pleasant and attentive.

HOWEVER when it came time for the bill to be paid, my MIL offered to pay. They ran her card multiple times and brought her back voided receipts and said it was declined. So she gave a second card to be ran. It went through and she signed it, we walked out together. Moments later we were chased down by two waitresses asking my MIL to come sign her receipt. She went back and explained how she already signed her receipt and she left. Days later she was charged again on the “declined” card.. So she calls the restaurant, full voicemail so she couldn’t get help that avenue. Managed to get someone via email and eventually over the phone. Said they’d refund her and to wait 7-10 days. Nothings been done and she’s going to dispute the charges with her bank since the restaurant isn’t holding up their end of the refunding process.

I have stayed quiet for quite some time now but I cannot stay quiet any longer. Last year (2016) I ate here early in the day (just after opening), in the winter months.. that night around 11:00 I experienced extreme nausea and vomiting. This only progressed to other symptoms and got worse and worse as time went by. I was sick for over a month after eating at this buffet... I didn't eat anything else that day except home cooked meals that have NEVER made me sick before or after the incident. During my sickness I lost 25 pounds, went to the ER 3 times, was on 5 different medications, and nobody knew what was wrong. The ultrasounds, CTs, and X-rays were no help in the diagnosis either. The best bet that the doctors had is that I had contracted a parasite.. this could have come from unclean hands or unsafe food care... between my sickness and the pictures of the "curing" meat that appeared to be cats and squirrels that were hanging behind the restaurant, that we all saw all over social media, I WILL NOT GO BACK HERE. I am sure that I am one of the very few, If not the only, that have gotten sick from here but, in the end; it was in the long run not worth the $4,000 that I payed and am still paying for a...
