I don’t usually write restaurant reviews, but after our experience at Osaka this past Friday, I felt compelled to share. My partner and I went out for what we hoped would be a fun hibachi dinner, but unfortunately, it was disappointing from start to finish.
My partner ordered the hibachi chicken, which was extremely dry. I chose the filet and shrimp combo, and while the meat was slightly better, it still lacked flavor. We also ordered a sushi roll as an appetizer, and it was below average—definitely not the quality you'd expect from a place advertising itself as a Japanese steak and seafood restaurant.
The most surprising part was the portion size. For a bill that came to around $100 for two people (and no alcohol), we received shockingly small portions. When the chef served the veggies and rice, I honestly thought it was just a partial serving, maybe for one person. But no—that was it. That small amount was meant for both of us and a family of three seated next to us. I think I counted two mushrooms on my plate total. Most hibachi spots serve generous helpings, especially of veggies and rice. And on top of that, they charge extra for fried rice? That should be standard at this price point.
As for the entertainment—there wasn’t any, really. Our chef was completely disengaged. He did the egg trick and a very quick onion volcano, but beyond that, he barely spoke or interacted with the table. Hibachi is supposed to be fun and lively, but this felt rushed and uninspired, like he didn’t want to be there.
To top it off, the bathrooms—and the hallway leading to them—reeked of harsh chemicals. I went to wash my hands before dinner and almost lost my appetite because of the overwhelming smell.
The restaurant was also nearly empty—only about four families were there at 6 p.m. on a Friday night. After experiencing the food quality, small portions, lack of entertainment, and high price, I can see why.
I absolutely do not recommend Osaka Japanese...
Read moreBy far, unparalleled, the most ABSOLUTE WORST customer service and dinner experience we have ever had in ANY full service restaurant in any place, inside and outside the U.S. This is a destination restaurant, meaning people make plans to to spend their evening and hard earned money to have a nice experience and be taken care of, not to stop in and grab a bite to fill your belly, that is a fast food place. The Osaka staff have no idea they are working in a destination restaurant. The group that planned their reservation a month ago Literally sat for 1 hour before receiving their water and soda drinks, much less taking their orders. In fact they did not even serve their drinks or hand out silverware, they placed everything on a table and the girls had to get up and hand out drinks and serve themselves. Two and a half hours later, YES, that is 2 1/2 hours later they were finally served and were able to eat their dinner, on Prom Night. Beyond unacceptable. No apologies, no trying to make things right, in fact they accepted walk ins and served them before, they were 4 other tables that came in after our group, ate and left before our group had their food. To top off this joyous occasion, after everyone had to wait and serve themselves, they paid full price plus the obligatory and included 20% tip. The entire group and our families will not only never frequent this restaurant again but will work hard to continue spreading the word of the incredible lack of service and mediocre food. The biggest issue is this is not the first time, this is at least the 4th time we have experienced this over several years and have continued to give 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances. Not any longer, this place needs to...
Read moreThis place is absolutely terrible. Took the entire family here, the check was well over $200. Two people ordered lobster - it tasted like it was fossilized. It was the most foul tasting food I have ever had in my mouth, and I'm not exaggerating. I told the "cook" that, he didn't really say anything. Then I told the waitress, and she said "since it has already been on the grill I cannot take it off the bill." Are you kidding me? I'm supposed to magically know it was going to taste like doo doo? I then ask to speak to the manager - a young boy comes to the table - says he cannot take it off the bill. "I just work here." Is what he said. I then demand to speak to the owner - he then tells me he is behind the sushi bar. I get up, go to speak to him, and he claims he is not the owner, and nothing can be done about the rotten seafood. The other two people at the table were also unhappy with their food, and walked out. This is terrible management skills. It is a total joke. I have never been treated so terribly at a restaurant. I will never set food in this establishment again, and I will advise anyone I know not to. It's GROSS. The raw chicken breasts were sitting on top of the raw red meat. Which I do not eat red meat - why would you cross contaminate food? This place needs a investigation by 7 on...
