I had a broken hinge for my cabinet and my father-in-law was kind enough to go with me to help figure out if they had a viable option to replace it. The greeter at the front got us to the aisle with gate hinges... so, we wandered hoping to run into another worker and nobody was available. Eventually we found the right kind in the middle of the next aisle over. There were two options that were pretty close but we wanted some pro help to ensure it was matching up with the old one (which we brought for reference). After 10 to 15 minutes with no workers in sight (and no way that we could tell to call someone over).... I started wandering the store. The first people were focussed on doing something and did not look up to see that I was trying to get within range to ask for help. Eventually I got to the kiosk where they mix paint and make keys where two people were stationed. One was with a customer. The other seemed to be waiting for paint to be mixed. He never looked up. So, after a few minutes of awkwardly waiting to be noticed I loudly announced that I had a question. He looked up long enough to hear my request and mumbled something about paging someone. He then fumbled around with his register quickly (no word over a pa) and it wasnt clear if anyone had been contacted or if he was working on his paint project. He didnt even say whether they were coming to us or to the aisle. So, we waited a few more minutes with nobody acknowledging us standing there. Finally the other man freed up and we asked him if he knew. He didnt but a manager looking type walked up with an agenda... so the guy asked if he could find someone to help with a hardware question. He said he would but never even so much as looked at us or said anything to us as he dashed away. Unsure whether to follow or stay, we waited until he was a few aisles past and talking to another employee to start following... but as we approached we realized he was just on his own agenda and not explaining what we needed to the guy... then he ran off quickly before we could even ask if he had found someone to help. Desperate, we caught the guy before he went back to what he was doing and asked if he knew anything about hardware. He gave an honest but unsure response but we asked anyhow between the two that looked close whether they looked like they would work. It was clear that our guess was as good as his, but he did at least take time to offer his opinion. This has been our experience the past few times we have needed anything. Customer service does not seem to be their thing. Kudos for variety of stuff. If I was a contractor that shopped there regularly and knew exactly what I wanted it would be different... and maybe that's their target audience... not the suburban guy who is a home owner but not much of a diy person. So, dont expect help from the staff. Make sure you eithdsr research ahead or bring a handy friend to help you find...
Read moreAs I usually do at Home Depot for the most part in my own town, I have made it an unbreakable rule to avoid Home Depot in Pennsylvania at all costs. It never fails that every time I walk into the Warrington location that due to some ignorant mistake or someone not knowing how to do their job much less just not caring about how they do it. It costs me hours EVERY SINGLE TIME.I did find myself getting an attitude just pulling into the parking lot every time I had no choice but to go there. I started feeling bad about it but it never fails right when I'm almost over it, I get some guy that tells me he is the best at his job only for him to turn around and end up doing something the wrong way and it runs the whole trip. Also whoever decided that store layout needs to try and walk through there as a contractor. I know they want to force their homeowners to walk through the entire store to increase the chances of a spontaneous purchase but simple things that go together are not even near each other. Besides I don't have the time to walk the whole store especially once the cashier of the day costs me whatever time. I've honestly been to Home Depot so many times over so many years for just about everything they do that I'll often find myself explaining how to go through a process to an employee that's not trained in that particular area and I don't mind it gets things done faster, but the Home Depot employees are like the cops were in the past... They will declare a store policy or other information to assert their authority and knowledge having no clue what current policy is, and the average person would conform, but I'll look it up on the Home Depot website and educate them if I can't find a manager to clarify. The old clerk at Warrington tried to tell me that Pennsylvania store policies are different, like I'd even consider that the corporate policies clearly stated on their website were just for everyone else, but they are special. See? Just like the authority monger...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with customer service at Home Depot. I’m in the middle of remodeling my house and I ordered all my kitchen appliances from this store.
My Frigidaire dishwasher came damaged. The plastic pipe that water travels through is terribly cracked and it can’t be installed. When I called about this issue, I got the run around from customer service. They kept saying it’s not their issue and I have to contact Frigidaire (the manufacturer) even through Home Depot sold me the appliances and delivered them damaged! I called Frigidaire this morning and sat on the phone for 30 min with no answer.
On top of that, I originally paid for installation but my kitchen cabinets weren’t in yet so I decided to have my contractor do it instead. A Home Depot customer service agent told me I’m entitled to a refund for not getting the appliances installed by them. I sat on a chat with an agent who was only able to give me a partial refund and told me the rest has to be done in store. Yesterday, I went to the Warrington store and their system was down. They told me to just call them the following day and that they would give me the rest of the refund via phone. I called them this morning and spoke to someone else in customer service who said I do indeed have to be in store and that the information I received was incorrect.
I’m extremely disappointed and discouraged by the lack of accountability and assistance at Home Depot. No one steps up or goes the extra mile for the customer. I’ve had to do other people’s jobs for them even though they sold me a defective product and have given me the run around regarding my refund for installation. Won’t be shopping here again for major appliances...
