We used to eat here pretty frequently, but I had 2 bad experiences in just the past week. One thing that hasn’t changed is that we always end up paying more than we expected, which is why I usually just get a slice or two for myself. So the other day I got 2 slices with artichokes, which have always been good in the past. This time they just didn’t taste right. I don’t know if the artichokes were bad or if they changed something about the pizza, but it just wasn’t good. I’ve had their pizza hot, cold, reheated in the oven and the microwave and it’s always been good. Not this time. So I decided to get something else today. I got a wrap with extra ranch on the side. When the girl on the phone repeated the order back to me, she said, “2 ranch on the side”, so I just thought they put the ranch on the side instead of in the wrap. Well I was charged $1.50 for 2 sides of ranch when I ordered one side of ranch. Also we ordered a cheesesteak with pickles. We were charged 25 cents for pickles but there were no pickles. Also the menu online shows the wraps being $10 but I was charged $12. So if you like paying extra money for every little thing from a place that doesn’t update their online menu to reflect current prices, then this is the...
Read moreFrankly, was expecting more from HG’s with the “beer wall” and restaurant size. However, it’s basically a serve yourself pizza place. With the exception of the large seating area, it’s no different than any other neighborhood pizza place. It is a fend-for-yourself ordeal. Person at register didn’t know how the beer wall worked so had to get someone else to help with that. Unfortunately, they don’t have the volume of diners to keep all 32 taps active. So, only 16 were active and even those weren’t moving enough product. Tried to pour a Lagunitas but it was mostly foam. Just went and got a can of Voodoo Ranger Juicy Hazy from the beer cooler.
Ordered fries, small Half Moon Bay pizza and small Sausage, Pepper and Onions pizza. Fries were cooked well. Pizzas were good but not great. Surprisingly, the Broccoli Rabe was prepared well but, in my opinion, the Half Moon Bay pizza needs...
Read moreDecent tasting pizza, the crust was burned/overcooked/hard, and kinda not enjoyable- and no this wasn't from the coal.. Regarding the coal, They don't have an actual coal fired oven here (how could I possibly know this?) if they did there would be allot of evidence physically all around the place they're burning coal, 1. specific smell of coal burning (not present), 2. Soot from coal smoke and dust that burning coal makes- none of this emits out of their building, even with a re-ducer, there's still gonna be soot from coal and dust and that distinct smell you can't avoid.
Now your thinking this guys nuts, BUT - they charge MORE for the coal fired pizza when in actuality there's no difference between the two aside their menu states coal fired and they charge you more... I'm gonna stop here and end with, probably the last time we'll be returning.. the salad was...
