PLEASE REPOST!! WHY TARGET DESERVES TO EAT WALMARTâS LUNCH: Why Walmart lost 1000s of my dollars over 96 cents.
My wife called me today to say that she went to Walmart on Bald Hill road to (store# 2747). When she had everything she needed in her cart she went to the front to ring out. As many Americans are noticing, customers are being forced to use self-checkout systems due to understaffed or non-existent human cashiers. Half way into processing her own order, the self-checkout machine had an error. The Walmart staff came over to reset the system but could not remedy the issue. They then sent her over to another machine with half her items bagged to start over. In the process of re-processing her own order a second time (while entertaining a three year old) she got distracted, she missed de-bagging and re-bagging a box of 96 cent cones.
So after ringing her self out twice with no help from the 3 associates standing in the self-checkout area, she gets stopped at the door by loss prevention. They make a whole thing about it by bringing her to the office, taking her license and then have the ignorance to say they were graciously not going to call the police?!? Over 96 cent cones? So while on the floor, three associates in the self-checkout area does not have the time to assist customers, but Walmart has the time and money to big brother their customers and embarrass them for less than a dollar?!? YOU CAN KEEP YOUR DOLLAR, BASED ON YOUR CUSTOMER EXPERINCE YOU WILL NEED IT MUCH MORE THAN I DO. So if she my daughter grabbed a toy or candy at the register and my wife did not notice it, I would have to believe your hardline LP policy would be to have my three year old daughter arrested?
It is up to the store to assist the customer in these checkout efforts, we did not ask to ring and bag ourselves! The problem is with your systems and policies, you associates should have de-bagged her items when there was an error, and if you are really worried about LP they associate could have rung it out themselves. Being in a bag designates the assumption it was paid for, why did your employees not de-bag the items- they literally sent her over to another machine setup to fail. Furthermore - why couldnât LP have radioed the floor staff when they noticed the issue? Apparently the culture and attitude directed down from the leadership of this store and company was to treat mistakes less than a $1 equivalently and intentional theft of $1000s of dollars equivalently. This is a systemic failure of Walmartâs own processes as well as A FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP, which was inappropriately taken out on your own customer.
What frustrated me further was when I contacted the store general manager Debra Calvert, I was given an un-empathetically response of that is the policy and she was walking out with it. WELL GOOD NEWS DEBRA CALVERT: WE WILL NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE AGAIN BECAUSE WE WILL NO LONGER SHOP AT YOUR STORE OR ANY WALMART. The response by the entire staff was completely un-proportional and inappropriate to the seriousness of the incident. It is neither empathetic or compassionate to quote context free rules when your customers live in a world built entirely context. A fair judgment system is one that incorporates the context of the situation and the human element of the incident.

Corporate Walmart, Debra, we will never forget the way you made us feel and more importantly your immediate response to the situation. I would advise anyone who wants to have a good shopping experience â #SKIP...
Read moreI get so aggravated when I visit this location. If it weren't for the fact that I use the pharmacy here, which is great, I would stay away from this store completely. Everytime I go inside and decide to pick up a few things, the shelves are just about bare, weekends especially, but I visited on Thursday 1/17/19 and it wasn't much better. And good luck finding prices for items, the shelf tags if any, are horrible to find, there are so many items with no shelf tags. And if you believe in personal help, in the departments, help is few and far between... good luck finding someone to help you- if you are looking for personal help at the checkout be prepared to wait Not being a fan of self checkouts any jobs being taken away from people, I was sick to see the store opened a second area of self checkouts, and very few cashier lanes are available. And with the "everyday low prices" give me a break. I used the savings catcher for the difference in price to be credited to me... I guess the system worked too well so it has been changed and has to be done at the cash register, but associates never ask if you participate in the program and many claim not to know how to use it. I hope believe with most prices ending in 97 cents, you might be saving 2-3 cents on most items, or the store carries different size products so they can't be compared to the major grocery chains...there are never any sales... I really can't believe why so many people shop at Walmart for groceries, and settle for such poor standards for a possible savings of a few pennies. Again I would like to mention how wonderful the staff is at the pharmacy, sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but I have called many, many times and the staff is so patient and helpful- I really can't say enough about the wonderful service I have always received from...
Read moreI was treated very unprofessionally by a store associate by the name of Lori at this store (2427) in Warwick, RI. She spoke to myself and another customer very condescendingly and rude while we were in the customer service line. The other customer, walked off saying, âare you serious?â to her. The store associate Lori, then threatened to call the police on me for âloiteringâ, when she knew I was in fact waiting for a manger to help me with a return after she refused. As a person of color, this is infuriating that she would weaponize calling the police at a time when no crime is being committed and it was completely inappropriate. I then, finally spoke the manager who helped me return the item. She was nice, and said âI would be happy to help youâ, but she didnât address her employees conduct at all. A simple âIâll talk to Lori about how that was inappropriate â or âIâll document this for youâ would of sufficed, but I didnât get that. I would like to document this encounter because it was humiliating and has me very shook up. Imagine if someone else or I, were to have the cops called or be arrested while shopping, for simply trying to return an item. I wasnât in front of the store smoking cigarettes and hanging out or yelling in the store being disruptive, I simply just wanted to return an item and was made to feel inferior for whatever reason. I had more shopping to do at this store but I honestly donât feel comfortable due to this experience and will now need to travel elsewhere to continue my shopping. Please advise!
p.s Iâm reading the reviews and noticed Iâm not the first customer to leave a review and name Lori in particular for how she engages with...
