Today I visited Belks in Washington NC. I would like to say this is the first time ever that I would write a negative review on Belks. I shop at Belks all the time for the entire family. I have always been pleased. I would just like to say today was not a good experience! While I understand this is the day after Christmas I was shocked as to the appearance of the store. The floors in the dressing rooms were so dirty you didn’t want to touch the floor. There were hair balls on the floor. I was shocked! When clothing would touch the floor it would get them dirty! The store seemed to be mostly stocked with work out cloths. Not many dress clothing items at all. Once we finally found something that would meet our needs at check out the cashier refused to take a cash payment. I only had a $100 bill and the merchandise amounted to $43. She insisted she could not make the change. Todays visit I would rate less than one star if I could and most likely will not visit the Washington NC...

There are not many shopping locations that look the same today as they did back in 1978, but this is definitely one of them. This site employs an older, mature staff that happens to be very courteous and customer-service oriented, which is what keeps our family returning. However, the younger sales people we have encountered while shopping here appear as if they belong on the "back-line" at Taco Bell, with their poor attitudes and lack of knowledge (primarily the men's dept- our experience on several occasions). Read moreJust wanted to say we have been a long time shopper at belk and always had a good experience. However I bought a cologne 3 days ago and tried to return today. They said the barcode did not match up with the receipt and they would not take it. How does this even happen?? If the associate happened to scan a different skew of the same product why do I have to pay the penalty??? Not satisfied at all and I will be spreading the word. If this was MY fault I wouldn't mind taking the loss. They don't have integrity and Dawn the store manager was very cold and did not try to rectify the situation at all.
