The place literally opened a week or so ago. I was walking on the 18th last Saturday and a guy was handing out falafel outside. I was AMAZED by how GOOD it was!! I'm an Arab from the Levantine, where falafel originated from. Back home having hummus & falafel for breakfast is like having a donut with your coffee. I grew up eating it almost every day. What surprised me in their falafel is that it's GREEN from inside (I'll tell you why in a sec) !! And the taste is TOP! Falafel is mainly divided into two types: 1) made of either Fava beans, or 2) chickpeas. The ones made of Fava beans are typically the Egyptian variety. In Lebanon & Syria too, but sometimes they mix both Fava beans & chickpeas. However, in Palestine & Jordan, it's made of chickpeas solely. Besides, the Palestinian/Jordanian falafel is distinguished by it's bright green color inside and that's 100% natural coloring! It's due to grinding parsley with the chickpeas! It enhances the flavor and gives it a fresh taste! Sometimes cilantro and green onions are added too (which are also green). There are many good falafel places in the DMV area, but NONE in Adams Morgan! I was very pleasantly surprised to find out about their grand opening! And especially the fact that's it's the Palestinian type of falafel! It's a must try!! I went there last week and got to chat with Sameer the owner, who prepared my sandwiches! On top of that, it turned out Sameer is from Jerusalem and has been living in the United States since 50 years already! It's such an honor to be able to try falafel made by someone from the Holy city of Jerusalem. FALAFEL SAM IS A MUST VISIT! There are tables to sit and eat inside. And btw the cashier is a lovely...
Read moreThe owner and workers couldn’t be nicer, however the place is no Amsterdam Falafel, sadly… I was hoping. The falafel itself is not flavorful or fluffy and lacks a crispy exterior and the dishes lack (no pickled turnip, no hummus, no cabbage salad, no roasted eggplant, creamy garlic sauce; none of the typical Middle Eastern toppings that you would want with most of your dishes). If you ask for hot sauce, you get like a minuscule amount in a tiny cup. That same scarcity mentality extends to the interior design where they have a good size space, but they put only three small tables for their clients leaving the rest of the space empty (see photo). The message is clear, subpar food and offering the minimum they can at an above par price. I hope they improve because they do seem nice as I said, and the...
Read moreAbsolutely spectacular! This falafel restaurant exceeded all my expectations. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated, creating a truly pleasant dining experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming — you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. And the food… just wow! The falafel is perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Every dish is a delicious blend of fresh, authentic ingredients. Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be...
