The Tuesday farmers market is among my favorite DC lunchtime markets. I love the variety of vendors here, they are always changing up! Always keeps me on my toes or rather taste buds.
Here's the latest and greatest vendor list from 2019:
Timber Pizza (5/5): Delicious pizza! Cheese Please is my favorite followed by Green Monster. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! The meandering lines at 12:30pm can get long. Come early or be prepared to wait in line for 15-20 minutes. Skip the wait and go to the Penn Quarter market Thurs evenings (3-7pm) or the Foggy market on Wed evening (3-7pm)
Cowbell Kitchen (5/5) - The homemade veggie burger bursting with flavor in a cheesy jalepeno bun with an array of relishes to choose from in a self-serve station hits the spot! While the scrumptious grilled cheese last year was delicious, I prefer the healthier veggie burger at lunch. Don't skip dessert - the blueberry and peanut butter muffin/cakes are delicious!
Hilana Falafel (5/5): Hot crispy chickpea balls right out of the fryer loaded with Hummus, Tahini, spicy Harissa, cabbage, tomato, cucumber, and pickles wrapped in a soft tortilla. Bursting with flavor in every bite!
Urban+ade Lemonade (5/5): The herbs really pack a punch! Not overly sweet with a touch of sugar. Red Basil & Tarragon, Sage and Mint, and Lavender are my favorite.
Call Your Mother Jewish Deli (4/5) - While the wood-fired bagels are tasty, don't miss out the chocolate swirl Babka muffin!
Spot of Tea (3/5): A bit too sweet for my taste. My favorites are the Vietnamese Coffee, Matcha, Cinnamon Cider.
Pinch Dumplings (4/5): The crispy fried trump the steamed dumplings.
Empanadas (4/5): They sell out fast! With so many to choose from, the spinach and cheese is my favorite.
Al Volo Cucina (2/5): Not a big fan of the greasy eggplant parm subs. The pasta at the store-front is disappointing as well.
Fruitive (2/5): Not a big fan of their juices, prefer the storefront location with healthy and tasty collard wraps.
There are also meaty and seafood vendors here too! Wonderful market with plenty of delicious and diverse options to choose from. Lines start to form between 12:30-1pm,...
Read moreI’ve loved seafood ALL my life. In all regions and a few different countries. I eat it for every meal more than none. But this is by far the BEST crab cake I’ve had in my life. The coleslaw was perfection! I mean literally, perfect! The sensual taste of each ingredient gave the best flavors I’ve ever had! Sizing of the crab cake is huge. The potatoe bun is tasted just right on the grill. The sauce is just right (not spicy or tangy). Not salty either. My palette hasn’t been this happy with seafood in a long time, considering how much I eat it. This tops them all! Great location at the Farmers Market during the summer too. Fresh fruit or lemonade near by too! Crab cake was $12 (well worth it and pretty inexpensive for something that tastes so good!). Coleslaw...
