I recently stayed at this property as part of a group booking from March 21–23, 2025, and unfortunately, the experience was far from the standard I’ve come to expect from Marriott. I feel compelled to share our experience in the hopes of improvements being made for future group guests.||Check-in Experience & Lack of Welcome Reception:|Our group arrived promptly at 4:09 PM on Friday, March 21, with expectations of a warm welcome and a designated point of contact — both of which had been arranged and confirmed ahead of time. To our surprise, there was no welcome reception, no staff assigned to greet us, and no preparation evident for our arrival. This created immediate confusion and an unorganized atmosphere that set a poor tone for the weekend. We were told Rudy would be on-site to assist, but he was nowhere to be found. Attempts to reach him throughout the weekend via text, especially regarding spoiled breakfast items and a request to cancel breakfast, went completely unanswered.||Room Assignment Failures:|Room assignments were another major issue. Most concerning was the fact that a 9-year-old child was mistakenly placed in a room alone, which raised significant safety and liability concerns. It took over an hour working with staff member Leo to rectify the situation and properly reassign rooms. To make matters worse, we were told Leo does not work weekends, which left our group with no support for the remainder of our stay.||Security & Administrative Oversights:|An updated rooming list, which was supposed to be provided for our external security team, was never delivered. As a result, I had to manually compile the list myself — an unnecessary and time-consuming task that could have easily been avoided with proper follow-through.||Wake-Up Calls & Breakfast Service Failures:|Our request for wake-up calls for multiple rooms was never fulfilled, which caused further disruption to our already tight schedule. On Saturday morning, I called at 6:30 AM to confirm breakfast and was told it had not been prepared due to a cook calling out — something we were never informed of ahead of time. Our group had scheduled activities based on the promised 6:30–8:00 AM breakfast window, and this oversight threw everything off. On Sunday, breakfast was available, but the orange juice was spoiled, which was both disappointing and a potential health concern.||Billing & Rewards Issues:|At checkout, I received no itemized bill and was advised to follow up with the Sales Department — which I’ve now attempted to contact multiple times with no response. Additionally, my Marriott Bonvoy number (#977743558) was not attached to the reservation, despite several prior requests. This not only affected my ability to earn points, but also impacted recognition of my loyalty status.||Missing Group Benefits:|After following up with Marriott Customer Service, I learned that group bookings typically include several benefits. Of the standard offerings, we only received the complimentary hospitality room. The following benefits were not provided:||Complimentary room for the coach, organizer, or team lead (I was instead offered an upgraded room, not complimentary)||4x Bonvoy Planner Points based on total group spend||5,000 Bonvoy points upon agreement signing||To say that this experience was disappointing would be an understatement. What should have been a smooth, well-organized group stay turned into a stressful and chaotic weekend. The lack of communication, disorganization, and failure to meet basic expectations left a very negative impression on myself and our group.||I strongly urge hotel management to review this experience internally and follow up regarding compensation and the missing group benefits. I would appreciate being contacted directly to resolve these concerns.||Final Verdict:|⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 out of 5 stars) – This experience fell far short of Marriott’s usual standards, especially for a group booking. I cannot recommend this property for group stays unless major...
Read moreDo not stay here if you are a business traveler or have to do any kind of work. Great for Gen-Z, those looking for an overly youthful vibe or 100% leisure travelers.
I had such high hopes for this hotel, as the decor and vibe seemed fun. But this is not for me, and this hotel probably works for a kind of traveler. Only a few hours here, and I find it obnoxious and pretentious for so many reasons.
Location: Seems fine but it's a bit of a walk to Metro Center. Great if you want to rent a bike or a scooter, or take an Uber. My cab driver had a bit of a problem getting to it.
Rooms: The rooms are cute, airy and very well-designed. I get they are falling into the whole "capsule" approach, but a desk or modified shelf would be nice. The one downside I noticed so far is that the doors don't appear to seal all the way & you can hear a little noise. Hopefully the walls are not thin....
The bathroom however is really nice. I love the design and it's well-thought out. Great inspo for a remodel we're mulling.
Library:/Business Area. This one feature actually receives the majority (so-far) of my ire. This is their so-called "business center."
Bring an extension cord. Not everyone wants to work on an uncomfortable sofa. The plugs are located under a very narrow "sofa," which is more like a shelf with some pillows. I had to drag a table close to it so that my cord could reach a functional outlet.
Bring noise cancelling headphones. You will not only hear the music blasting down below, but you will also get to hear the staff talking. Not their fault, as it's very "echo-like" due to the design. But it's noisy and you hear conversations from them that are not 100% appropriate for a guest to hear.
The bathrooms are unisex/mixed. Love and appreciate the inclusiveness. What I hated was the inconvenient location. If you need to use a restroom, you will have to run down two flights of stairs and through their basement. Taking an elevator up to my room would have been quicker. This actually got me pretty mad.
If you want food/drink, you have to leave your stuff and order from the front bar/counter. How hard would it be to enable app-based ordering and delivery to library attendees. There's not even a water fountain, and the K-cup/coffee area doesn't have any coffee or cream. BUT there are empty pizza boxes as decor. How chic!
Long tables as "work tables. These tables are IKEA quality. The chairs are cheap pub-style and uncomfortable. Again, not work friendly. The only thing I liked about these tables is the footrest bar. If you are a bit zaftig, you will not enjoy these chairs. For a place that is trying to be "inclusive," I found this (along with the narrow couch) to be interesting.
WiFi: My room/stay should have come with WiFi. I connected using my Bonvoy account but still, it wasn't easy. I had to reboot to get it all to connect.
Honestly if I have time, I may see if I can move hotels. Very disappointed. Definitely a Marriott brand I will...

I stayed here once 2 years ago for Otakon, and it was problematic (accessibility, space, plumbing, etc.) The only thing this hotel has going for it is proximity to the convention center.
This year I booked a room at the Moxy through a third party (Priceline) back in April, again for Otakon. My reservation was for August 1-4, 2024, prepaid and nonrefundable. Yesterday morning (July 31) I woke up to an email saying that the property could no longer accommodate my reservation.
I immediately called and emailed Priceline and the Moxy to understand why my reservation that had been confirmed for over 3 months was suddenly cancelled the day before my check-in.
The Marriott reservation service folks were friendly and tried to be helpful, they could see my name and reservation active in the system but my confirmation numbers weren't accurate and there was no credit card on file. She tried to call the front desk to get more information and put me on hold, but my call was disconnected.
I called back and the next person couldn't help me but told me to call the Moxy directly and "bypass" the automated dialing system to get to the front desk. I followed the directions and got to speak to someone and asked if my reservation was confirmed and active. The first front desk person said yes, my name was in there and I had a room for two double beds. I was relieved and thanked her. But something bugged me so I tried to call back to get documentation or an accurate reservation confirmation number.
A new front desk person answered and knew about the situation. They said that management suddenly informed them in the morning that "there was an issue with my reservation and they did not have a room available for me."
I was stunned and tried not to cry. She was trying to be helpful and said she could suggest other nearby hotels that had rooms available. I asked if the Moxy had any available and she said yes, but I would have to book directly through Marriott.
Then I asked if I could get written documentation about this situation so that I could have evidence that I was not at fault and request a refund. The front desk person gave me the information and said she would inform the manager that I would be contacting them. I emailed the manager or owner, Wei Ng, and never received a response.
I still don't understand how a "decent" hotel could suddenly cancel a reservation that had been made months in advance the day before arrival, even if it was through a third party. The only thing I can think of is my room rate was discounted and they thought they could make a bigger profit by cancelling my reservation and overbooking at a higher rate.
I will never stay at the Moxy or any other hotels under this management team, Remington Hospitality, and advise everyone...
