Following thorough research of various hotels in the Washington D.C. area, I opted to stay at the Conrad from January 29, 2024, to February 01, 2024, to commemorate our 14th wedding anniversary. Despite an overall enjoyable experience, I find it necessary to express concerns about two specific staff members with whom our interactions were less than satisfactory.
On January 29, 2024, upon arriving at the third-floor front desk, Hayden Conner Ashworth and another front desk agent were checking in only one guest each at their respective stations. Having waited for more than 10 minutes as we approached the desk, Hayden failed to acknowledge or greet us. Instead, Hayden informed us that he was addressing a hotel security issue and conveyed, "You folks can wait or go to her," gesturing towards the other front desk agent, "but if you wait, it will be a while." With minimal eye contact or acknowledgment, he uttered this while typing on the computer. Then Hayden proceeded to walk off leaving us standing there. In our extensive travels, encountering the rudeness and dismissiveness exhibited by Hayden Ashworth was unprecedented. To my surprise, this display of unprofessionalism came from a front desk manager, adding to the astonishment of the situation. By the time Hayden Ashworth instructed us that he would not be checking us in, another hotel guest was already in line for the other guest service agent. Consequently, we had to wait for her to be serviced before us, despite being the ones who had arrived first and should have been next in line.
On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, upon entering the Sakura Club, there was no one at the front desk station. When I approached the counter to inquire about dinner options, I was intercepted by Tom Macellaro, who identified himself as the ambassador and requested my room number. I found this perplexing since, for the past two days of dining at the Sakura Club, my room number had never been requested. It was disconcerting to be questioned about our room number in the presence of other hotel guests, right in the middle of the dining facility.
On February 01, 2024, during check-out, Hayden Ashworth manned the front desk alone. Once again, there was no initial greeting upon our approach. He did not even bother to ask the customary question, “How was your stay?” However, he promptly picked up the phone to call another front desk agent, seeking assistance for a newly arrived hotel guest while servicing us. I assume this was to ensure the prompt service of the other guest. Regrettably, this particular customer service attribute was not extended to us by Hayden Ashworth.
Despite our less-than-pleasant encounters with Hayden Conner Ashworth and Tom Macellaro, I want to ensure they do not overshadow the commendable efforts of the other hospitable hotel employees. I would like to express my gratitude and praise for those individuals who contributed to making our 14th wedding anniversary enjoyable and memorable during our stay at Conrad Washington DC. Specifically, John Paul exhibited exceptional customer service upon our arrival. Jeffrey Morgan, Chief Concierge, was notably friendly, welcoming, and assured us that he was available for any assistance we might need. Additionally, the following employees at the Sakura Club – Cristina Niculae, Esmith "Mimi" Jac, Mekady, Jackson, and Maria - significantly enhanced our stay. They were warm, welcoming, courteous, polite, attentive, and all possessed exceptional customer service skills. These are the type of dedicated workers that hotel guests aspire to encounter and interact with during their stay.
I sincerely hope that the individuals who contributed to our pleasant stay receive the recognition they deserve. These employees truly embody and bring to life the hotel's mission, as stated: "Hilton's mission is to be the most hospitable company in the world. We're passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, and we look forward to welcoming you to our hotels so we can share the light and warmth of hospitality with...

Read moreFrom beginning to end, an amazing experience.
Check in: Kayla and Tory checked us in at front desk. They were both very helpful, efficient and went above and beyond to create a very welcoming and pleasant experience. Since the desk was not as busy at that moment, Kayla was able to take some time to show us around the hotel, showing us how to get to the fitness room, restaurant as well as showing us where the board rooms were just because we were curious! She also made sure that we were able to get a reservation at The Estuary for dinner, taking the time to walk us over and talk to the host. Both Kayla and Tory struck the perfect balance between professionalism and personability.
Meals: Staff at The Estuary were great, very professional, quick and helpful. In particular, the Host on Sunday Evening as well as Monday Lunch was kind, and very informative. We were served by Mark for Lunch and had a great experience. He was knowledgeable not only about the menu but also gave us some great info about a hiking trail. Throughout the entire meal we felt well taken care of as he was present without being overbearing. We had some other welcomed conversations that made the experience more personal and enjoyable. Thanks Mark!
The food was delicious. Presentation was immaculate. Could not have asked for more. Dishes were all very well balanced and conceptualized to create a very enjoyable fine dining experience. This restaurant held up extremely well compared to other fine dining experiences that we had in DC, coming out as #1 based on our experience.
Rooms: Stunning. Our room came with 2 robes and 2 sets of slippers which were extremely comfortable and good at regulating our temperature. the thermostat was extremely responsive, and had a Celsius option which was a nice touch for us and any other foreigners. The bathroom was spacious and clean with great amenities. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion all had a clean, light, and fresh scent that was pleasant and subtle. We had a slight issue with the TV not having service and called pretty late in the night hoping the front desk agent might be able to help us over the phone, instead they went above and beyond sending engineering who came and fixed it within 5 minutes. Thank you engineering for helping us out even at such a late hour!!
Beds, pillows and sheets were very comfortable. As someone who sleeps on a pretty firm mattress, these once were softer than I'm used to. Regardless they were amazing, no aches or pains, very restful sleep.
The Fitness centre was very clean and well maintained with great amenities and new equipment. Free weights up to 75 lbs which is insane, a squat rack, treadmills, pelotons, rowing machines, and more.
As previously stated, the overall experience was amazing. Could not have asked for anything more from the Conrad or the amazing team. I would highly recommend it, and hope to be returning soon!
Thank you to everyone at the Conrad for your hard work! You created an...
