[TL/DR]: Eaton DC provides a terrific stay. If you don't feel like wandering around the city too much, in warmer months, but still want to find a good restaurant, a chic bar, and fulfilling musical experiences, it's all here.
[Longer, Carrie Bradshaw version...]
Introduction: Welcome, dear readers, to the vibrant heart of Washington, D.C., where culture, history, and artistic expression collide in a mesmerizing symphony. Nestled within this enchanting cityscape lies the Eaton DC hotel, a hidden gem that promises a glamorous and mysterious escape. Join me on a captivating journey as I uncover the secrets and delights of my unforgettable three-day stay at this hip and happening establishment.
Day 1: A Warm Welcome and Intriguing Discoveries From the moment I stepped into the hotel's lobby, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of sophistication and intrigue. The staff greeted me with genuine warmth, setting the stage for a remarkable experience. If you're lucky, you might get a full introduction from a vibrant and enthusiastic hostess (Simone) who, I promise you, speaks just like this review reads. As I settled into my room, a delightful surprise, an in-room record player, transported me to a bygone era, where I could get lost in a world of melodies and nostalgia.
Day 2: Indulging in Luxurious Amenities and Culinary Delights Eaton DC knows how to pamper its guests with an array of luxurious amenities. My work schedule did not afford me the opportunity to enjoy the rooftop pool's serene oasis amidst the bustling cityscape--though the excellent shower pressure almost made up for the oversight. Nor did I make time to take advantage of the state-of-the-art fitness center that can help you maintain your wellness routine. But I did find my way into a secret bar behind the downstairs library that truly stole the show. As I ventured into this hidden sanctuary, I was greeted by a large mural depicting the courageous Ruby Bridges as the protagonist of "Through the Looking Glass." It was a breathtaking work of art that seamlessly blended history, literature, and imagination. The cocktails served in this clandestine setting were as enchanting as the ambiance itself, crafted with precision and flair.
Day 3: Exploring the Neighborhood and Cultural Charms Eaton DC's prime location is a gateway to the city's vibrant cultural scene. Within walking distance, you'll discover iconic landmarks such as the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums. But the true allure lay within the hotel itself. The live, vinyl-only DJ booth, with its large window visible from the sidewalk, was a captivating sight. As the DJ spun records, the music spilled out onto the streets, creating an atmosphere of revelry and celebration.
Conclusion: My three-day affair with Eaton DC hotel was nothing short of a glamorous urban retreat, filled with delightful surprises and hidden wonders. The in-room record player transported me to a bygone era, while the secret bar behind the library immersed me in a world of art and imagination. The live DJ booth added an element of excitement and spectacle, making the hotel an integral part of the city's vibrant music scene. With its chic design, impeccable service, and carefully curated amenities, Eaton DC left an indelible mark on my soul. So, dear readers, allow yourself to be captivated by the secrets that await at Eaton DC. Embrace the allure of this exceptional hotel, where every moment is a celebration of art, culture, and the magic of the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I booked 1 night here in March 2022 in the Pied-a-Terre Junior Corner Suite and were extremely disappointed.
The biggest issue was that when we arrived in our room after checking in, there were various items that clearly belonged to another guest scattered around, including a bag of lingerie inside, tea light candles, and a bottle of alcohol in the mini fridge. We had arrived after a long day of travel and were very concerned about having taken another guest’s room, so immediately called the front desk. They were completely nonplussed about the situation and asked if we could bring the items downstairs. Again, we were exhausted and thought that that should’ve been taken care of by the hotel, so we decided to deal with it the next day. Also, I will note that the room was clean, bed was freshly made, etc.
An hour later (at around 10 pm), we got a call from the front desk saying that there had indeed been a mistake and that they were sending up a staff member to collect the items, which they did.
Another 15 minutes later (at probably 10:15-10:30 pm), we were using the bathroom/shower when there’s a loud knock on the door. Given that we were both in the middle of bathing/getting ready, we ignored it. The person then ENTERS THE ROOM, at which point I freak out a little because, again, we hadn’t really been reassured that we weren’t going to be barged in on by another guest. It turned out to be the staff member coming to collect the bottle of alcohol that he had forgotten to grab before. I dry off, put on a towel, and get it for him.
The next morning, at check out, there was a very curt apology given, but no additional assurances or compensation. For context, when this happened to me a few years ago at a similarly-priced Marriott (with a much less bad service outcome), they immediately comped my 3-night stay and the hotel manager apologized.
Other things to point out: I realized as I wrote this that we definitely weren’t in a corner suite as promised with the booking (we were in the middle of the hallway) bathroom plumbing was messed up - extremely high sink water pressure no coffee in the room despite having paid $400+ for the room check-in process - staff member said he would call us when the room was ready but didn’t, and seemed to be keeping records of guest check in on paper room was noisy with the sounds of people partying,...
Read moreI spent the weekend here with a wedding group and am truly stunned with the good and great reviews. Everything about our visit was just bad.
The price for the saved block of rooms was higher than a regular booking, so we chose that option. Our reservation was cancelled about two weeks before, with no reason given. We were able to then secure a room in the block but for the block price and not the cheaper rate.
We were told we would have curated records in our room, but no one in our party received them. When we called the front desk, they promised to fix it as soon as possible but never did in the 48 hours we stayed there.
The phones in multiple rooms , including ours - did not work at all - not even a dial tone. We had to make all calls on cell phones. The water pressure in my shower was so strong it left bruises, although other members of our party reported very low pressure that made showers challenging. There's also no way to turn on the shower without soaking half the bathroom and the water ran right over the edge of the shower and onto the floor.
Housekeeping entered our room despite the 'do not disturb' hanger on the door handle.
It took over an hour for promised day-of amenities to be delivered after calling the front desk. There were supposed to be hand-held steamers in every room but no one actually had one. One of the staff got angry with the bride, swearing that there was one in the room - despite six people looking for it and not finding it (it was, in fact, not in the room and they had to bring one).
The small fridge ran so hot that you could feel the heat from over a foot away.
The valet service was abysmal. Guests are supposed to be able to request their cars electronically. My husband submitted the requests but we still had to go to the valet (if one could even be found, which apparently wasn't a guarantee) and request it in person.
The wedding planner felt so guilty about recommending the hotel compared to the service we received. None of us will ever recommend the Eaton. It's particularly upsetting given the...
