Went to this location to get a passport (including having the child’s photo taken by location staff) for my infant child. Paid for the required photo and expedited service. Received a letter a month later, from the Department of State, that the photo had been rejected. Called the post office about the issue, and was first hung up on after being transferred to the passport office. I called again, and was then told to come in anytime before 3pm, an appointment was not needed. When I arrived, the woman asked why I was there, if I had an appointment, and if I had a receipt from the previous visit. I did not. She asked for the name. I gave it, and the letter from the photo rejection notice from Department of State. The woman took my child's photo, and stapled it to the letter. She then said I would need to purchase a stamp to mail it. I stepped in to line, sealed the envelope, and when it was my turn, she came out of her office, and told the (far left) clerk I would need to pay for the new photo as well. I said no, I would not be paying for the retaken photo. He said he would charge me for the stamp, and I could take it up with her. I said that would be fine. I paid, and then asked to speak with a supervisor. He indicated there might not be one available, but he would check. He returned a few moments later, with a supervisor. I explained the situation, she asked if I had a copy of the original photo. I said I did, at home. To which the passport employee came out of her office again, and commented that, see? I hadn't been able to supply the original rejected photo. She never asked me for it. The manager said this was all going to be cleared up, I was NOT to be charged, and she would expedite the mailing of the photo and required letter to the Department of State. I told her I was willing to go back home and get the copy of the original rejected photo, or happily email it to whatever email address she indicated. She was apologetic, and said that would not be necessary. The females that run the passport office are harsh, brusk, rude, and work with all the competence of uncaring people, who know they cannot be fired. Willing to hustle you for the fee of a photo, they took incorrectly, and had to retake! My original appointment and services paid for is on record, searchable by name. IF YOU NEED EXPEDITED SERVICE AND THINGS DONE CORRECTLY FOR A PASSPORT, DO NOT HAVE YOUR PAPERWORK PROCESSED AT...
Read moreNegligence and offensive overall. 1 star for the staff that actually stepped in and help!
We applied for passport for our 5-year old daughter in this location in early December 2022. The staff told us to use all zeros in SSN since she is a minor. Two months later, we got a mail from Department of State requesting my daughter's SSN.
We immediately mailed the letter using USPS 1-day express mail to State Department in NH. The mail was supposed to be delivered on Feb 22, 2023 but it never gets delivered. Today is Monday, Feb 27, 2023 (76 days since the application was received). I went to check with the staff with my tracking number and she told me the mail is delayed and she has no idea where it is.
I told her the whole story and she became super defensive and started to argue with me that it is impossible for their staff to tell me to use zeros, and that they were not trained this way. The lady called another staff and they only care about finding my application form to prove that their passport staff did not instruct me to use zeros for SSN (AKA. I am lying). I told her it does not matter since I was trying to respond with her SSN using express mail. I just need my daughter's passport so we can re-unite with my family since we cannot meet for almost 4 years due to covid situation. They took my application locater number and said they are going to find the application to prove me wrong.
After a while, I heard them walking from the back and saying it was "Blank" but they told me they do not keep the application form they sent to Passport Center. One kind staff (gentleman) offered to waive the shipping fee for me to send another express mail with a copy of my daughter's SSN to State Department and he wrote "friendship" on the shipping form (This 1 star is...
Read moreI paid for my urgent package to be sent 2-day Priority. It went out on Tuesday afternoon from my home post office in PA. It was scheduled to be delivered early Thursday afternoon. On Thursday, the tracking said that my package was out for delivery. When I returned to my hotel later in the day, the package still hadn't been delivered. By 11pm, the tracking message said the delivery hadn't been updated. It is now Saturday morning and that is the same message. When I called this post office on Friday, I spent most of my day trying to track my package instead of being at the conference I came to DC to attend. I was put on hold numerous times for longer than 5 minutes. When I finally spoke to someone, he curtly told me my package would be delivered that day. When I went back to my hotel's shipping office for the fifth time that day, around closing time (4:30), the postal service still hadn't been there. Flash forward to about 9pm on Friday, when I returned from getting dinner, the front desk and security of my hotel said that the postal service hadn't even delivered that day. They also searched multiple places for my package, just in case. I'm leaving D.C. in a few hours and I live four hours away. The fact that I might leave this city without my urgent package is unacceptable. It is also extremely unacceptable that my tracking status hasn't been updated since Thursday at 9am. I have know idea if my package is still in D.C. or if, by some miracle, it has been returned to sender. I know that post offices get busy, but there is no excuse for the lack of professionalism and irresponsibility that I (and many other customers, based on the negative reviews)...
