Ok so I have been to this surf side location a few times when visiting DC. I have never had a bad experience until today. I don't know if it's because Trump have these Hispanic on edge or if my server was just racist but the service she was giving was not ok. I'm a black women and the restaurant had majority of whilte people the server that was assigned to our table made every effort to service the white peolle first. However, I'm the type of person who will give the you and the establishment the benefit of the doubt and a chance to prove me wrong. This time I went with my gut feelings, me and my gf notice the waitress behavior so it wasnt just me. She was very nonchalant when my gf was asking for a particular drink and she still gave her the wrong drink becauseshe wasn't listening . I was not having it so I ask the manager who was a black man who was also acting like I was wrong asking for another waiter. At that moment I wanted to leave but since we received a better waitress and my gf wanted to stay so we did. When the food came everything was cool until I saw a piece of black hair on my steak my appetite instantly went away. I noticed the manager who again was a black man he was acting like oh here we go again another complaining black person. But I didn't care I don't want this meal nor do I want you to remake it get your staff and establishment right. Paying almost $80 for drinks and a meal I want my food to be close to perfection. I will never visit this establishment again or recommend it to anyone I know. Eating out these days has become costly and not worth it. The service being provided at these establishment are terrible and the food...

I had never been to the Wisconsin location before (I ate at the Dupont location once about 5 years ago while visiting family in DC) but walked in today and ordered at the counter. I put down a 20% tip even though I hadn't received service yet and asked the woman taking my order if my food would be brought to me or if I needed to come up to the counter to get it. To this she said that they'd call my name. I go to sit down at a table (plenty of choices as even though it was lunch hour not a single table was occupied -- just two men at the bar). Soon enough, an angry, I kid you not, female employee comes over and tells me that I can't sit because I ordered takeout. When I tell her I didn't order take out, she points out that there is a different stand to go to if you're dining in. That was not obvious, but I had also said plenty to the other employee to indicate I thought I would be eating my food at a table (such fancy demands, I know). The problem was she (1) was angry, (2) told me I literally could not sit at a table even though the restaurant was essentially empty, and (3) didn't "let one slide" as I was a new customer and had just ordered a $30 meal of tacos and guacamole. I ended up canceling my order and leaving. I feel bad for the wasted mahi, but I do not feel bad about getting my money back from these jerks. When I told a local about my experience, she replied, "oh yeah they're pretty awful and...
Read moreI have been to other Tex-Mex restaurants but Surfside is my top favorite. Opening during the height of the pandemic, it quickly became a standout spot, thanks in part to its spacious, covered patio dining area—perfect for the times. This restaurant tends to get quite busy, especially on Fridays and weekends, so making a reservation is highly recommended.
This is the most requested restaurant among our out-of-town guests for good reasons! Everyone loves the delicious food, exceptional service, and the casual, family friendly atmosphere. With larger gatherings, we often opt for takeout. It is more comfortable to enjoy the great food at home.
Some of our favorites include the Aruba Salad, Tahiti Salad, Pork Belly Sliders, and Street Corn. For larger groups, the Fajita Box is an excellent choice. If you’re a fan of seafood, Surfside's grilled shrimp dishes feature large, perfectly cooked shrimp.
