After taking a half day off work and driving 40 miles to this dealership, I looked at a 2018 GMC Sierra. Everything seemed manageable with the truck, there was a bad exhaust leak near the mid to rear of the truck (fixable), the exhaust manifolds are rotted and the heat shield was missing some of the original hardware (you can see someone rigged it with a home made washer and random bolt). I was more than willing to accept the truck as is but then I noticed the back bumper was pushed in on the passenger side and there was noticable damage to the body panel behind it. The truck was also not very clean when I looked at it and test drove it, I guess they have a new kid that did the cleaning and missed a handful of things (also not a deal breaker). But where my issues came up was when I started to talk to the salesman James. On the test drive he said something along the lines of "I don't like it when people waist my time because I want to sell 17 cars a month". That kind of took me by surprised because he seemed nice and willing to make a deal on the phone. Every question I had about the truck he had no clue about and repeatedly said he's not a mechanic. I noticed on the paperwork I looked at that the truck was from Canada and he said "oh, is it?". Not very knowledgeable about the machines he is selling. He then told me they do not negotiate on their prices and the total out the door was $25,000 and some change. The truck is only worth a maximum of $22,000 (according to multiple sources) but their sticker price is $23,772. I asked if without any work they could do $22,000 out the door (with no warranty), which I believe to be more than fair for the issues with the truck, and he tried to shake my hand and finish the conversation early and refused. Not very professional in my opinion. I did ask about me supplying the new exhaust manifolds and them installing which they "looked into" but the gentleman in the service department did not look too amused by that idea. I just cannot believe anyone selling a used vehicle is not willing to work on the price at all, especially over $3,000 more than the value of the truck. They said they paid a lot for the vehicle and put $600 into repairs when they got it but it was brought in as a trade in so you know there is still a profit margin for them. Even then, it is not the customers responsible to pay for their misjudgment of the vehicle they took as a trade in. The general attitude of everyone at the dealership seemed frustrated and irritated I was there asking questions. EXCEPT FOR THE TWO GENTLEMEN I SPOKE WITH IN THE DETAILING SHOP!! Jeff and Dewey were more than happy to come clean some things on the truck that the younger guy missed. Any questions I had for them, they gave me as much information as they knew. They are genuinely the only positive aspect of my experience with this dealership. Jeff and Dewey are not salesmen but did everything to try to make the customer happy. It's just sad that you can walk into a dealership with $10,000 cash as a down payment and they will not even try to work on a fair and honest price. Obviously the truck is used but good business is good business. This was my first experience with this dealership and will almost certainly be my last. Advice for anyone that does buy a used vehicle from this dealership, or new for that matter, is to talk to the guys in the detailing shop, they are super helpful and will do everything in their control to make the customer happy with their...
Read moreI recently purchased a 2016 Lincoln MKC from Don’s Chevy. When buying the vehicle everyone seemed nice and super friendly. Justin Jones was the salesman. Noticed the coolant was a little low and and the sales manager Matt Taylor said they must of missed it during inspection. 4 days after buying the vehicle it won’t start because of the battery, couldn’t even be jump started. There inspection list said battery was just fine. No big deal I just bought a battery and installed it myself. 2 weeks after buying the vehicle the check engine light came on for cylinder 2 misfiring, I changed the spark plugs and it seemed fine for a day until it came back on. I took it to a shop and they told me coolant is getting into cylinder 2 and I need a new engine. I found this out 28 days after purchasing the vehicle. They knew the vehicle was leaking coolant internally but claimed they must of not seen that the coolant was low during the inspection. I then called Don’s and Darren Worth the service manager told me they were about 1 week out before they can start looking at the vehicle. The same day I drove the car there and Scott Bennett told me it was closer to 2 weeks. I then did not hear anything back for over 2 and a half weeks before Scott called back and said that they saw coolant in one of the cylinders. Scott then said it will be 1-2 weeks before they can tear down the engine as they only have 1 guy that can do it and there was 2 people ahead of me. Scott also said he was sorry for not contacting me and that he will do a better job to call me to let me know what’s going on. Did not hear from Scott again until more then 2 weeks later when he told me I did need a new engine. Was told a used engine with 24 thousand more miles then my car had originally would cost me about $3000 after they cover 50%. They said I could also have a new engine put in and that would be about $3000 more than the used engine. After I told them I need to hear the final numbers before making a decision they called me a couple hours later. Said the used engine would be about $3700 and the new one about $7,200, over a thousand more then what I was told earlier in the day. I’ve been looking online and seeing people be quoted around $8000-$10000 for a new engine when they are paying for 100% of the cost. Seems like they are jacking up the price on me so they barely have to cover any part after knowingly selling me a car with that issue. Supposed to talk to the owner soon...
Read moreRecently totaled a Ford Fusion hybrid. I like Fusion hybrids so much, I wanted another one, but I'm very particular. I wanted to find one a year newer, a trim level higher, no more than 30,000 miles, with a red exterior and tan interior. I wanted the price to be under 25k, payments to be less than my previous car and no more than 48 months. And they had to accept Capital One financing. After a couple of weeks of searching high and low online, I found THE one on Don's Auto Group website in Wauseon, OH. As the dealership is over 2 hours from where I live, I contacted them by email and quickly received a return email from salesman Trevor Shipman. Trevor was fantastic to work with! We quickly moved our conversation to texting where Trevor sent me all the pictures, videos, and answers to my questions that I needed to make a decision. No hard sell! (that came later 🤪) He was extremely patient with me considering it was late on a Saturday afternoon and I'm sure he was ready to go. We agreed on the deal and I sent him my info for the deposit. We made arrangements to drive to Ohio to pick it up on Monday morning. I was pretty nervous about buying a car out of state, online, sight unseen, but Trevor had it washed and ready for us to take a test drive when we arrived and we were allowed to take that drive on our own without him. I like that! We had plenty of time to thoroughly look over the car. I found a couple cosmetic issues, light scratches that will probably buff out, but overall I was satisfied I had got a good deal. Trevor then passed us on to Stacie, the finance person, to finish the deal. Never my favorite part of car buying. This is where the hard sell part comes in- extended warranties, longer payment terms, paint and seat protection products. After a bit of a credit check snafu, we were able to get through the rest with the final price, interest rate, term and payments that I came in expecting. All together, we were only at the dealer for about an hour. I left very happy! Once again, Trevor was very respectful of my husband and I and our time, and he was professional in every way. I would not hesitate to work with him again. The next day, I discovered he had left us a small wash bucket of gifts, as well....
