Atmosphere (5/5): Vibe was inviting and comfortable. I really enjoyed multiple TVs behind the bar and a couple in the dining area with Tigers game.
Food (4/5): I ordered chicken gnocchi carbonara (with bacon, sage, spinach and parmesean garlic cream sauce) and Brussels sprouts (with bacon and parmesean). They came out separately and the gnocchi had noticeably been sitting under the heat lamp for a while but the flavor was still very good and overall meal was worth the price. Complimentary bread was good and a nice touch as well.
Service (2/5): I understand this place has only been open a couple weeks but the staff (specifically bar staff, where I sat) seemed to have no previous service experience. When I arrived I asked what the specials were and the response was "I have no idea". This was end of the shift and she had still not known what the specials were nor offered to find out. I then asked what the best bourbon options they had and the response was "we have Johnnie Walker" which isn't a bourbon, so I just ordered a Makers or something I just assumed they would have. After receiving the drink we were basically avoided after that. I needed a napkin since we had bread and had to reach into the bar area for bev naps. I then had an empty drink sitting there for a while and tried asking multiple times for a wine list but was being ignored so I reached into the bar area for a menu. Once I finally got their attention and ordered the wine I was actually offered a "miss pour" wine that was mistakenly poured which was very nice and I accepted and appreciated the offer. Once we got our food and the glass of wine I still needed silverware for my food which seemed to be kinda an ordeal to get between 2 different bartenders but I did end up getting it. After that we were pretty invisible, no "how is your food", "anything else I can get for you" etc. Admittedly we were there at the end of the shift and I'm sure they wanted to do their cleanup tasks to get out of there but even trying to get their attention to cash out took a while. The one bartender seemed to be the manager was clearly wearing the stress on her shoulders but even still was not asking the standard "how is everything" "anything I can get you" checking in type questions. Especially when I'm sitting there waiting for a while on food with an empty drink in front of me. I don't mean to sound too harsh bc the short conversations I had, they did seem nice. I just hope some training is done and hope this place succeeds.
Overall id give it another chance after giving them some more time to get their feet under them and would recommend others...
Read moreThis new to West Branch steak and seafood restaurant possibly has the best view of West Branch's pretty northern hill range of any local restaurant. The interior is pleasant with a modern but non-bistro feel ( a positive for this writer) and large windows with booths on two sides of the dining room with square tables in the rest of the room. A U shaped bar and high tops in a moderately partitioned off area from the main front of the house appeared pleasant. There is a separate room for moderately sized groups with nice windows and square tables. The main room has pleasant lighting and hard floors . One cannot hear the kitchen in the front of the house. All staff appeared busy serving customers.
We were a party of three who utilized the one hour call ahead and waited only 10 minutes for a table upon our arrival an hour after our phone call. Our hostess was friendly and professional. Our square table with chairs had ample room. The ambient sound level afforded us pleasant, normal volume conversation. Nice weight silverware, cloth knapkins, and clean glass ware. Heavy vynal, white table covers. Fresh baked bread was brought to our table. Nice offerings of wine.
Two of us ordered French Onion soup, served hot with lightly toasted cheese and a light colored broth, a wonderful change from the usual dark brown, beefy tasting fare. This writer's garden salad was fresh and satisfying. One meal, Chicken Marsala, was presented with lightly breaded chicken, fresh mushrooms and s delightful Marsala sauce. The side of fettuccine was tasty but dry. Another meal of prime rib and a side of sweet potatoe fries was delivered less than tepid and was replaced by another, correct temperatured meal, with our server's apology. The prime rib tasted unseasoned. Good sweet potato fries. Our third meal, Grouper with Seafood stuffing and a lobster flavored sauce was presented nicely and was flavorful however a portion of the fish was undercooked. The server quickly contacted the manager who came to the table, also apologizing, and comped this meal without this writer's asking, a professional interchange. The accompanying side of brussel sprouts was tasty.
Our wait staff, Evie, was professional, knew her menu well, and attended to our needs.
The prices and portions were appreciated. We will return. We enjoyed a pleasant meal experience.
Good parking,

Read moreThis place was atrocious today in every aspect. Came here for a birthday dinner and left with 3/4 of my "food" in a box and still hungry. My steak came out so raw it looked like it kissed the grill when I ordered medium rare. Second steak came out okay still slightly on the rare side only on one side? Idk how you even accomplish that. A guest with me her steak was over cooked then got served a 2nd steak that was even more done then the 1st one! It took over an hour to get our initial meals to arrive before the issues even started. When sat down had to ask for bread and Silverware after sitting there staring at each other for 30 minutes. The only thing that came in a timely fashion was our very first drinks. The lobster tail they served me was about 3 1/2 inches long and was so overbroiled that it was like eating a piece of crunchy leather. Tried to take one bite and instantly sent it back. The Brussel sprouts I ordered with my dinner never came when the 1st or 2nd steak showed up they only showed after I asked for a box because our group was completely over it and lost our appetite. The one steak and lobster tail were comped but that's not the point. The one person in our group didn't have dinner because of all this and I have 3/4 on my meal in a box because we couldn't wait to leave after wasting 2 hours there. You couldn't pay me to go back, this place needs some SERIOUS help from top to bottom. Save your money, the only thing that was decent was the bread in a bag that you have to try to cut up on top of the paperbag it is served in (🤣) the cup of soup I had and the starter salads which one of my group was also served with the wrong dressing. To wait over an hour for our food to then have this many issues really ruined our experience. Should you disregard this review all I can say is get comfy (at least they had the tigers game on a TV like 50ft away) and be prepared to be disappointed with a nice hefty bill waiting for you at the end. It felt like I experienced a steak based robbery today 😅. It's a shame because the couple of bites I did take it seems like they have a quality cut of meat but when a resturant can't execute that...
