I have been a tenant at Meridia for 7 months now, and the overall experience has been great. I moved from out of state in the winter, and, despite this, the entire move-in process was really smooth. The price is fair, in line with the average rate across the country, and a great deal for what you get.
Betzy is incredibly accommodating and helpful, assisting me in finding solutions when a furniture delivery got messed up and doggedly pursuing a vendor to ensure I received my washer/dryer within the first month and a half of living here. She is one of the most thoughtful and caring property managers I have ever worked with, and it is clear she really cares about the residents.
Neighbors have been very friendly, often offering to help me carry things to my unit if they see me in the elevator. Noise levels have been super quiet in my corner unit, even during holiday weekends. People tend to be respectful of everyone's need to sleep, and the units are well-insulated against noise.
The amenities offered by Meridia are fantastic. I love the gym and the fact that there is great heating and cooling and high-quality appliances. I feel safe with the way the building is kept locked except for residents. The private, gated parking garage with assigned spaces is worth its weight in gold in an area with such limited parking options, and the price for parking is reasonable for the area. I'm also grateful the building is pet friendly, as it allowed me to adopt my rescue kitty, and it's nice to see people walking with their furry friends.
Maintenance requests are always handled quickly and easily--the super is so friendly, and so are the vendors, for example, the exterminator. I had a small issue with summer carpet beetles entering through the windows, and the exterminator came, sprayed, offered guidance for keeping my cat safe from the spray and the critters, and ensured I no longer had beetle trouble. Best of all, Betzy followed up to make sure there was no more trouble following the spraying.
The neighborhood is fantastic and walkable, and it'sreally good for families and kids. The area is so diverse and vibrant. Park Ave. has a lot of great local businesses, and it is easy to access Bergenline Avenue, River Road, and Boulevard East for many more options. There are many parks with gorgeous views of NYC, and getting to the city is pretty easy via public transit from the building.
There are a few cons to be aware of, though these are not total dealbreakers and have not tarnished my overall experience. Laundry in the laundry room can get expensive quickly. The upper floors and back elevator get really stuffy in the summer. Packages are often left in the vestibule rather than going to the mailroom or unit doors, meaning you must go get your mail as soon as you receive notice or your deliveries might be taken or misplaced (not Meridia's fault, as there is lots of signage for delivery folks). For better security, there are no traditional keys, and you must keep an app on your phone and keep your phone with you and Bluetooth enabled to access the building and your home. If your phone dies or gets lost, and it is outside business hours, a lock-out costs $150, which is staggering for simple tech issues or losing a phone. There is also no visitor parking. In the grand scheme of things, these are minor cons, but they are worth keeping in mind as you make your apartment hunt decisions.
My family loves coming to visit me and stay at my apartment because it's such a well-maintained, peaceful place with plenty of space, the neighborhood is nice and accessible, and everything and everyone is so welcoming. I'd highly recommend Meridia Park Avenue if you're considering it--it was the exact right choice for me coming from out of state and forging my path, and I intend to stay until I...
Read moreThis review has been long over due. Where do I even begin! I was living here from January 2023-December 2023. It all started off great, everything seemed new and great. I welcomed my first baby in February of 2023 and felt great about being there. I did have one incident when it came to the a/c heater unit in the living room in January, which was fixed within 2 days. Fast forward a few months later, the main problems started happening. My in unit washer and dryer had issues, the washer would back up when draining, and flood my floor. This happened about 3 times. my dryer would not dry, I can't remember exactly what the issue was anymore. Then, there was a big flood that happened in the building, right in the area where I was living. This damaged a few of my husband's sneakers, my rug had to be thrown out when I moved because it was SOAKED. We didn't realize until after the fact that water consistently leaked through the A/C heater unit every time it rained. I had to put a bucket after I caught the leak. Let me tell you that I left the apartment and it was never fixed while I was there. There was a hole underneath the floor at the entrance of my bedroom, that you could feel when walking. Over time, it broke through, that was never fixed either. The paint in my bedroom was chipping in a uniformed, solid horizontal line across the wall. That was never fixed either. The hot water was not working properly for about 2-3 months in the months of October -December I believe. Dealing with an infant and everything that comes with it, They are lucky we didn't go the legal route with all of this seeing how I had an Infant living in these horrible conditions. I could not get out of there fast enough. Such a horrible experience living here. They need to do better. And honestly, they should've at least paid my rent for the last few months, I honestly wasn't even thinking and just wanted to get out for the safety...
Read moreOur experience at Meridia Park Avenue was nothing short of a nightmare. Michelle, the moving agent, initially seemed helpful but vanished the moment we signed the lease. She failed to deliver on any of her promises, from arranging a service elevator to providing a convenient parking spot.
Even worse was our interaction with the building manager, Betsy. Instead of addressing our concerns, she responded with dismissive and hostile behavior. Any minor noise complaint was met with threats instead of solutions. The structural issues of the building meant that even normal footsteps caused noise complaints from the downstairs neighbor, yet instead of addressing these flaws, we were served with a ânotice to quitâ on just four daysâ notice. There are hundreds of people moving in and out every month, and it is a very crowded and noisy environment. Terrible for people with kids or anyone who wants even a little peace of mind. Moving here was the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. After 5 months, they tried to kick us out of our apartment with lawyers and threats. My wife and I are hardly ever in our house, always working, just going back to sleep, yet this manager, called Betsy, found the most ridiculous way to threaten us to kick us out of our apartment (FOOT STEPS). The building is too old yet when the floor makes the cranking noise when you walk they will come after you and will try to kick you out.
Their unprofessionalism and lack of support created an extremely hostile living environment. If youâre considering moving here, think twice. This place is a nightmare in disguise, and the managementâs incompetence will cost you...
