Aggressive and unsafe environment for honest working individuals who don’t have time to dress clean.
I am a business owner and I had to deal with some confirmation bias by employees who aren’t familiar with blue collar work which involves getting dirty and using tools. My work attire is always filthy and I wear worn boots.
I used to go to this store for years back when they used to hold Konami sponsored OTS Yu-Gi-Oh events. I’ve lost interest due to how management has changed and how snobby the employees have become. It’s not a friendly environment and the employees lack social skills to engage with customers to check on them strategically with small conversation pieces instead of stalking around corners and talking smack with their colleagues.
Two employees (the younger two, the oldest was focused on harassing me)- liked to joke about customers in the store, even mentioning inflicting bodily harm on someone like me because I guess I looked suspicious to them. Once I walked by they would stop talking and become stone faced - I didn’t want to accuse them of their malicious discussions because it was the end of a work day and I wanted to go home.
One employee with a goatee and short hair, all grey with a heavy stomach seemed to stalk me wherever I went in the store and it made me incredibly upset because I have issues with personal space and confirmation bias along with severe social anxiety. I had to ask my brother for his keys before I exploded verbally because I couldn’t handle listening to the constant snickering insults and threats to assault me. Just because I didn’t like your lack of selection for Yu-Gi-Oh doesn’t warrant you to talk smack about me and you can say it to my face pal because I work like a man instead of fiddling with card board and injection mold plastic. I love my hobby but I also have a life unlike the employees who feel like bullying their customers because they have nothing better to do with their time.
One young employee with mid length dark brown curls joked about inflicting bodily harm on me with another employee mentioning if I were to do anything suspicious because of my work attire.
Once I left the store I noticed the grey haired heavy set employee went back to stacking boxes instead of talking with his peers and moving between aisles checking on me constantly. It’s really not cool.
Thanks.

Read moreI called on Thurs to bring my 1/6 scale collection (12 figures in boxes) to the store , the gentleman on the phone asked what I had and I told them 1/6 scale hot toys /sideshow/threezero figures , confirmed , then Friday called again to confirm and make sure I'm brining them at a time that doesn't disrupt their flow of work , rearranged my schedule and got there . The gentleman that confirmed was not at the store , so we waited for him and he starts saying "I actually have bad luck with these I thought they were statues, I'm not really interested in 1/6 scale figures" then proceeds to inspect and price out everything for some reason , and asks how much I want , I took recent eBay sales , deducted roughly 10% for any missing accessories or condition concerns , then took an additional 40% off knowing they need to make money , and gave them the starting number to negotiate with me , the guy talks to his owner and comes back and says "it's a hard pass" - talk about wasting my time - unprofessional , I gave 1 star because objectively their store has cool inventory and some of their volunteers are nice, but if you are anyone that values good business , I do not recommend. - btw I listed the items online and have sold 4 of them already, making 30% of the quoted price to them . It sounds like they need more informed/ less lazy people making these decisions , because they left money on the table and genuinely could have locked in a customer for an expensive peice (I was going to suggest store credit , or turn around and spend some of that money in...
Read moreAbout a year ago, I had a bad experience with an employee on a Friday night. There were lots of people playing Magic, and I was told to leave, even though I was coming not just to browse and buy comics, but play Magic as well. Even had my cards on me at the time. I tried to explain this, but the employee wouldn't have it, and kept telling me to leave. No fun when you drive 45 minutes to get there. I was constantly met with sighs and eye rolls, and always afraid to ask questions. If I couldn't find what I needed, I would just leave. After the staff changes, this store has exceeded my expectations of a good comic store. They have always had a good selection and an awesome space, with a designated space with a second counter and display cabinet for collectible pieves (not to mention a large game room off to the side for table tops like Magic or D&D) Recently, I have only been met with smiling faces and helpful staff in the past few months at the location on Military Trail. The staff is passionate about their merch and are always willing to help you look for what you need, whether it's something specific or a recommendation of their own. They go out of their way to make sure you get what you want and more, and I...
