Just had a whale vs. giant squid cover up piece done on my left forearm by Zees at Water Street Tattoo, and it’s honestly some of the best tattoo work I’ve ever seen. This is part of a full sleeve in progress, and Zees absolutely nailed it. The detail is insane—sharp linework, smooth shading, and a real sense of motion in the design. It’s not just ink, it’s a full-on deep-sea battle that feels alive on my arm.

The way the piece wraps around the forearm is perfect. You can tell Zees planned it with the full sleeve in mind, so it flows naturally and stands strong on its own. The tentacles, the whale’s expression, the depth—it all hits hard.

The shop itself is clean, chill, and professional. Zees took the time to talk through everything, made sure the stencil placement was spot-on, and was meticulous from start to finish. Steve, Zees, and the rest of the crew are an absolute pleasure to be around and be tattooed by. They’re attitude is always super positive and getting a tattoo becomes more of a hang out with the homies which enhances the experience. They respect their clients and are always improving their craft.
