It’s all in the details. Absolutely, positively, the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel for work and am on the road at least 50% of the time. I spent nearly a week here and checked out on a Saturday only to find out my work would keep me here another night. I was so impressed that I immediately booked another night at the same hotel. The last night was in a “one bedroom” on the 5th floor and it was even nicer than the studio suite I had previously. Staff is clearly held to a higher standard of service because they treated me like I royalty. Bradley, is professional, warm and beyond helpful. Unlike many people who recite the same canned information like a flight attendant rattling off the seatbelt and exit routine, Brad actually conveys the info in a sincere, soothing manner and is a wealth of knowledge. A woman asked him for a place she could purchase a bottle of wine and he gave her two options and knew their hours of operation. A week after my only interaction with him, I returned and without hesitation he remembered my entire name. Maria booked my second stay, taking the customer service baton from Brad. If you think my experience may have been the exception and not the rule, think again. I mentioned to Maria that I preferred the first room I had simply because of the view and decor. Maria apologized and not only switched my room, she upgraded me and gave me a discount off my next stay. The upgrade left me speechless. Far from a hotel room. More like a condo!
My room was immaculate and dare I say pristine. The design is modern, meticulously maintained and look brand new. From the floors to the stainless appliances, dishwasher, full size induction oven, Nespresso coffee maker with assorted pods including espresso, regular coffee and exquisite teas. Cups, plates, and a balcony with furniture overlooking an infinity pool. The bathroom is clean enough to eat off the floor. I opened the closet door and was astonished to find a washer/dryer for laundry. This place has it all.
I left a note for the housekeeping staff that I enjoyed a particular coffee and asked for more of it and additional sugar. I returned to find exactly what I asked for and then some. Most hotels have a few shelves of stuff in the lobby. This was a stand alone store which was more like a mini WholeFoods than anything. I picked up a bunch of goodies to eat and just charged it to the room as the staff told me to do and included in the cost of my room. What a deal. Even the tv is state of the art. Turn it on, scan a QR code and in one click you can control the room from your phone.
I would live here if I could.

Read moreI stayed 4 days in May. The good news is the room was clean, and the location is good as it is in downtown West Palm. The bad news is that unfortunately the hotel next door which faced my room had a nightime rooftop party with a very loud DJ and music which prevented me from getting sleep. One night I had reservations at Buccan at 6:30 p.m. I spoke with the driver of the AKA electric trolley while he was in the parking garage, and I asked him to pick me up at 6:10 to take me to the restaurant and he agreed to do so. He told me it would be only 5 minutes to drive there. I waited in the parking garage for him to appear until 6:27 and he never showed up, despite that the parking valet texted him and called him about picking me up. I then had to get my car and drive to the restaurant because waiting for an Uber would have caused me to miss the reservation. On another night the parking valet, Andrew, was gone for a long time while he tried to retrieve my car. He returned without my car and told me he was unable to open the door, so I had to go with him to find my car several floors up in the garage to show him how to open the door. Finally, I found out when I arrived home that the hotel charged me twice on my credit card when I checked out, despite that the written folio invoice which I was given at checkout had the correct charge on it when I checked out. I called the hotel and was first told that there is a $100 per night "security deposit" which was being charged. I said I was not told about that and it is not identified on the website or anywhere else. It also did not explain the double room charges on my credit card. I have never heard of a security deposit for a hotel room, especially when I paid in full at the time I checked out. Dimitri then emailed me to say the double charge would "drop off" my credit card in a few days. Again, no explanation why there was a double charge or why one charge was $400 more than the other. Overall I expected a much better experience from AKA, especially since it has so much competition...
