Today was My first experience going to a Meijer grocery store and I use the term grocery store loosely because there’s so much more to this place that I never knew.
This place really is like a mini shopping mall you’ve got a pharmacy a bank clothings exercise equipment tons of groceries bakery a floral department you name it I think they might even have a kitchen sink in this place somewhere.
I’ve driven by Meijer in the past but I didn’t really give it a consideration and that was a failure on my part because this place is astonishing link clean nice I’m very well kept.
So as I walked in here at a convenience been close to a Tim Hortons I went to get a coffee yet I was concerned if they would have a fruit selection and I was presently surprised by the abundance of fruit you have to select from.
I for one am a new disciple of the Meyer chain of everything as they seem to carry almost everything that you could want at a price that is very comparable to Walmart and beats Kroger. Now with that being said this place is far superior to Walmart which if you’ve been to them recently you know that they are the low end non-customer service variety stores. This place really is the opposite of that and that the staff was very courteous the place looks bright and clean and with a ton of selection at a good price.
Do yourself a favor give these guys try if you’re in the Lewis Center/Westerville area of...
Read moreI honest to goodness hate this particular store and, if it weren't for the fact that I'm boycotting Kroger down the street, I wouldn't go!
For example, the produce section is sprawling, but is overstocked yet doesn't have a lot of organic items - which is an incredibly small section off to the side. It does have the Taylor Farms stir fries that I like better than Kroger's, but that still aren't that great. It also did have a tube of lemongrass paste, which was appreciated. At one time, carried a bag of Opal apples, but now doesn't have a single one.
The meat / seafood department doesn't carry any shrimp in the case - and the frozen shrimp is halfway across the store.
Which is my main gripe - the store layout! That and it doesn't carry but one type of organic oatmeal and it didn't have my favorite orange peach mango juice. (Although to be fair, neither does Kroger. I get it from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods.)
The lines were also incredibly long - and my cashier seemed to be working in slow motion and a trainee. Despite the long line, management didn't intervene for the longest.
When lines finally did open up, instead of grabbing the next person in line, the last people in line benefitted. Good stores have the clerks escorting the next person in line to be first in their checkout.
I think next time, I'll go down the...
Read moreI love Meijer! And the Meijer stores are 30 and 40 minutes from where I live so I try to visit/shop when I'm in the area. Tonight I stopped in to buy some groceries and once at the register realized I had forgotten to buy a thermal bag, you know the ones that keep cold food cold. I had a while before getting back home and wanted to be sure the few things I bought would remain cold. So, I asked the self checkout attendant if someone could grab one for me? After waiting a few minutes I asked her again as no one had brought one yet. Finally, the guy comes and says "I can't find one, apparently we don't have any" my reply was " that's kinda strange because I know you guys carry them. I saw them while shopping but forgot to grab one" so, I leave my cart and items at the register with my kids and went to look myself. Of course I found one so needless to say I was quite irritated with the employees lack of knowledge or even ability to "look" and find one. Aside from this, Meijer is a clean store, usually well stocked. I might add that only 2 registers were open, the store was busy and the self check out was 20 items or less. I had way more than 20 items but no cashiers! So used self check out anyways. In comparing this location to the one on Hamilton Rd in Gahanna I would say that I would be much happier...
