Update April 2nd, 2023 (zero stars): First off, I had nothing but good experiences coming to this Bob Evans for almost 20 years...up until this past weekend. We had mostly been doing occasional take out order since 2020 until this recent visit.
We saw the parking lot not very full, so we thought the place was not packed. Much to our surprise there was a long wait line, we just came from church and already decided to wait (took almost 20 minutes to be seated). As we were being seated in the furthest most tables from the entrance we noticed a LOT of empty tables. Made no sense why there were so many empty tables when people are waiting to be seated, guessing they didn't have enough waiters to tend all the tables.
A waitress comes to attend to our table. Didn't introduce herself but asked for our drinks. I asked if we can place a quick pancakes order while we determine what drinks we would like: that didn't go too well. The waitress grabbed one of the empty chairs and sat next to my wife to explain to us "need a drink order to be placed before we can place any food orders". I explained, we'll have waters then and can we place our pancake order (again, we have done this for 20 years, we order one pancake order to share while we select our main entrees and drinks). She was not having it and then looked upset when I said all waters.
Then when placing our order, two of our kids like to share a main chicken entrée meal (with two sides) - the waitress questioned my kids sharing a meal cause it only comes with 3 pieces of chicken (I held my composure and replied politely). Having four children, think I know what my children like to eat and how much. Most of this experience was bad, but we held our composure (Wife and I) to avoid setting a bad example for our children. We explained to them to enjoy their activities (reading books and coloring notebooks). All the meanwhile, we also heard another waitress by the coffee station mention "I'm ready to slap this customer" at her tables (next section of tables she was servicing).
This place has absolutely gone downhill. Food was not great (like it used to be) and staff/manager are just horrible! We will not be returning. I have no idea if this is a result of DE&I or the direction Westerville is heading in general. Used to be our go-to breakfast spot, such a disappointment.
Prior Review period from 2010-2019 (5 stars) = Andrea is amazing and remains one of the few that has been working there for years. Placed starting to...
Read moreBetter luck going to the IHOP next door or the Bob Evans off of 161. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend getting a raise, it’s his favorite place to go and he was SO excited. That quickly turned into disappointment and anger. We were seated in a booth (I have back problems and sitting at tables hurts) and we asked the hostess for a high chair. He brought us a booster seat, our one year old would wiggle out of that and fall under the table. When the waitress came we asked for a highchair and she quickly brought us one. Then the hostess ran over and started loudly asking “is there a problem?!” “What’s wrong?!” And said we were breaking the rules and couldn’t have a high chair. It was quite embarrassing to have him yelling at us that we were breaking the rules and having other customers looking at us. The waitress looked puzzled and the hostess said he would ask the manager. He came back and said we couldn’t have a high chair if we wanted to sit in a booth. So we decided to go sit at a table. It was a celebratory meal for my boyfriend so I didn’t want to ruin it by having to leave because sitting at a table hurts my back so much. When we got the food, my boyfriend got the chicken parm which was soaked in water from the noodles not being strained enough which got all over his bread and chicken. He also said the chicken tasted both rubbery and squishy, not pleasant. I got pancakes and hash browns and the pancakes tasted burnt as well as “cheesy?” Like they had accidentally mixed some Parmesan in with the batter. The hash browns were soaked in butter. My son had a fruit cup which had lots of brown gross fruit in it. I tried to share my food with him but even the baby who eats anything, wouldn’t eat that. We left very sad and disappointed. My boyfriend has talked about going to Bob Evans for weeks and was so incredibly let down by this experience. We won’t be back to this store. Hopefully we have better luck at the 161 store that we used to go to or IHOP. The waitress was lovely and very helpful, the hostess, cook and “rules”.. not so much. I hope someone from corporate sees this and changes the “no high chair at a booth” rule because some parents can’t sit at tables and that makes it impossible for us to eat there with our...
Read moreI placed an order online at this restaurant around June 21st. Bob Evans called letting me know they were out of what I ordered and wanted to know if I wanted to order something else instead. I didn't want to order anything else so I went to the restaurant asking for a refund. The manager cancelled my order and said I would be getting a refund. The money would be put back on the card I used to place my online order. On July 6th I stopped by the restaurant again because I hadn't received the refund yet. I asked to speak to the manager and because they were short staffed he was not able to speak with me. I completely understand that. I gave them my name and address and was told they would be mailing me a gift card since I hadn't received the refund. Today I went to the restaurant again because I hadn't received the gift card that I was told would be mailed to me. I asked to speak to the manager and I explained the situation to her. I was told there wasn't anything she could do because she wasn't the manager I had originally spoke with. She took my name and address and said she would talk to the manager I originally spoke with and a gift card would be sent to me. I do not know the name of the manager I originally spoke with. Now I am frustrated. This is the third time I have went to the restaurant to get this issue resolved. After I left the restaurant I called Bob Evans Corporate Office to see if they could help me. The person I talked to asked for my receipt number and said I would receive a refund within five days. I am thankful Corporate was able to help me. I seriously doubt that I'll be placing any more online orders with Bob Evans. It is simply not...
