One of my closest friends and I were having one of our fun, one-on-one culinary adventures that led us to Coppa Gelato for dessert.
She got the snickerdoodle and pumpkin gelatos, which she said were really good. I got the lemon basil sorbetto as it sounded like the best vegan option, and I was not disappointed. It was refreshing, herbaceous, and pleasantly aromatic. The sweetness was just right and not overpowering. I ate an entire pint and would have gladly eaten another gallon, but we had just had dinner.
We had eaten at the patio because the weather was nice, but as we were getting ready to head out, I asked my friend if I could take pictures of the inside before we left because the venue looked cool. I am so glad we did.
Donald, the manager, asked us about our experience, and we had an amazing conversation. He was kind, curious, thoughtful, and inquisitive as he told us how they were building their social media presence, engaging with the community with free gelato making classes, potentially collaborating with nearby restaurants, creating new recipe ideas, and keeping Italian tradition alive in Westerville while making gelato and other desserts of their own. It was a pure delight, and we talked with Donald for over an hour about the new fall menu items.
Donald was amazing and gave us samples of their homemade buckeyes, which happened to be vegan. I personally am not a fan of peanut butter in most desserts, but they surpassed all of my expectations. The buckeyes were perfectly sweet, but not cloying, they struck the right balance between chocolate and peanut butter, and I almost ate the ones my friend was going to eat. They were incredible.
I highly recommend Coppa Gelato under the current management (Nov. 2022) for anyone who enjoys gelato, ice cream, confections, and baked desserts. They make everything in house and also have fancy coffee. If you are in the area, definitely stop by. You will be...
Read moreFirst time coming here. Thankfully the line was not too long— only at the door, but not out the door. I ordered one scoop of gelato on a cake cone and a medium cup choosing three flavors. The gelato was delicious and very creamy. The cake cone was a different story—the cone was stale! I noticed everyone was ordering their gelato in a cup, so that may explain why the cone was stale because rarely does anyone order the gelato in a cone. I would like to make a suggestion that they do better in storing their cones to make sure that customers receive a fresh, crunchy cone. I read another review where a customer stated that the waffle cone was stale. After this, I doubt if I ever will order another cone, whether cake or waffle.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, the menu board stated that a one dip cake cone was a little over $5, And the medium cup was a little over $6, but my bill came to $13. Now unless there was tax added for carryout, I think that I was overcharged—I do not have a receipt. I did not realize this until I got home. Now I am feeling a little shortchange being overcharged for my two items plus receiving a stale cone. This will not stop me from returning, but I will pay more attention to what I am being charged and only order gelato in a cup. Customer service was excellent. Nice quaint and cozy shop with seating inside...
Read moreSorry, but the Coppa Gelato we loved is just not the same! We had not been since before Covid in March. We stopped by tonight. There must be new owners- the atmosphere feels so odd; not very welcoming & the signage is all different and so bare. The portions are definitely smaller than before but the prices are the same! The flavors are mostly the same, but the texture & taste is off! My small scoop on a cone was melting before it even got to my hands! It’s not the same creamy texture it used to be or maybe they don’t keep it as cold? Even the kids cups were all melted! Maybe the recipe is different now? Sad that there are no bakery items. No more pastry or doughnuts or coffee/expressos. No more sugar cones, just cake cones & the waffle cones got a lot smaller! We’re so sad to see a place we once adored come to this. We will not be back! PS- This place was always busy with a line out the door. It was empty! I think people figured it out like we did & aren’t...
