I went in for ceiling paint and for decorator's white for interior trim. For the trim, they gave me a can of white with eggshell finish, and didn't tint the paint. I thought that was strange, but brought it home anyway. A google search told me decorator's white is a color that needs to be tinted, and semi-gloss is the finish most people use for interior trim. I went back the next day and spoke to a different employee, and he told me that eggshell is what everyone uses now, and that the white is the newer version of decorator's white. Still not convinced, I called a different Ace Hardware store, and they told me decorator's white is still used and the paint off the shelf needs to be tinted. They also said semi-gloss is the most popular for interior trim, just as I had thought. The employees at this particular Ace don't seem to know what they are talking about. I won't be...
Read moreI recently moved to Westford and my 3.5 year old grandson loved watching the painters at my new apartment. I wanted to surprise him with his own painters’ tools.
My huge appreciation to the very creative and patient MacKay high-school-aged salesman, and his associates, who went above and beyond to create the perfect collection for my 3.5 year-old grandson to play!
The set included a handcrafted (on-the-spot) pint-sized paint bucket, paint mixing stick, paint color sample cards, sanding block, plastic Spackle ‘knife’, a paint brush, paint roller, painter’s ‘overall’ cover-up (cut to size at home) and drop cloth. My grandson has had hours of fun, ‘painting’ my apt. with many, many more fun times ahead until he’s old enough to add REAL paint to the bucket!😊
Thanks again...
Read moreThis store is just OK. The staff tends to be inexperienced, arrogant, and not customer focused. I recently went there for rock salt, which is generally about $6-8 for 50 pounds, and was charged $18 for 40 pounds, I thought maybe this was an ice melt blend price, and asked them to confirm. They didn’t get a bag to check, but instead told me it has always been that price. Next stop was market basket, where they had 25 pound bags of salt for $4. I confirmed with the OTHER Westford Ace that their rock salt price is $7 for 50 pounds. Had to go there to return to over priced stuff. I like the Groton rd store, but will not be returning to the McKay store. This type of interaction has happened too many times for me...
