Poor Maintenance Ruins Rental Experience. We have always rented boats from Colorado Sports and it has always been a great experience, until recently. We decided to rent a boat for my dad's 60th on August 14. We picked up the boat (Yamaha AR240) on August 13 around 4 PM after driving an hour (we live in Littleton) and rented it under my married name Mahoney, only stating so a claim cannot be made that we did not rent from them. During the staff overview of the boat we took video and it was a bit beat up, but the only true thing brought to our attention was the ladder off the back being broken and needing a bungee cord to stay in place. Once we got it in the water, it was evident there were lots of issues not brought to our attention. Thankfully my dad grew up on water so he was able to navigate these issues throughout the day. However ,this should not have been his responsibility after we paid nearly $1000 for the rental. The biggest frustrations came at the end of the day. We planned to stay out as late as possible as we always do, as soon as it became dusk, we turned on the navigation light to find it was not working. We spent AN HOUR messing with this. After slowly docking we checked the fuses and went through the trouble shooting we could find online, we ended up having to send someone to go home to grab a screw driver so we could get the light off. Once we took the light off, it was evident that was the issue, the bulb had become loose. After an hour of tinkering (all on video), which again should not have been our responsibility, we took the boat back out. When we finally called it a night, we docked the boat and started to pull it back onto the trailer and the tow strap broke! A quick process took nearly 2 hours as we again had to do the work to find a solutions. When we returned the boat all these issues and more were shared with the staff. A phone call was also made and the only response we received was "Okay". No apology, nothing, just an "okay" from multiple people. When you pay nearly $1000 for a rental it should be in a usable condition, your time should not be spent dealing with issues that are not caused by you, but lack of maintenance and care from Colorado Sports Rent. When we asked my dad if he enjoyed his birthday, he said he did but he wishes he could have just been on the water rather than spending hours tinkering with a boat. Very...
Read moreIf you want poor customer service this is the place to go. Staff from the management to the workers are incompetent at answering questions and being polite. Especially when it comes to questioning their policies, they cannot provide answers to where the polices are located for reference on their website.
Reserved 4 sets of equipment for an AM pick up came in at 11:45AM to pick up the rentals and was told I would be charged for a full day unless I came back 2 hours later at 2:00. After trying to get clarification on where this policy is stated, I was only told that is the policy and that's how it is. Even though nowhere on my reservation paperwork or website does it state this policy. God forbid you ask a question and expect a decent answer minus the attitude.
Upon reading other reviews seems this is par for the course in this establishment.
You get what you pay for here, discounted rates equals discounted shoddy service. Better off going to Christy Sports on Wadsworth or even Crystal Ski Shop in Boulder. They are happy to explain the policies and procedures without being condescending. Save yourself the time and money by going elsewhere.
If the staff or management of this business cared at all about customer retention they would be better at their jobs.
As an avid outdoor family we were planning on utilizing the proximity of this location frequently throughout the year, unfortunate for them that they could not be kind enough to make longtime customers out of us with what would have been our initial transaction.
However I am happy to drive a little further and pay a little more for a business that actually values customer service as an integral part of the way they run...
Read moreI’ve had several experiences with Colorado Sports Rent and, as someone who prefers to support local businesses, I’ve always chosen them over larger retailers like Christy Sports or the Epic Store. However, my last two experiences have been extremely disappointing.
First, I paid for ski mounts, with the promise that they’d be done within 24 hours. After 48 hours without any communication, I visited the store to find my skis still sitting there. Once mounted, I noticed they had installed the wrong size binding.
In a separate incident, I rented gear for two friends. We were told by an employee that we could return the items before 12pm on a particular day even though we arrived at 11am. We and offered to wait until 2pm to avoid any confusion, but were assured it wouldn’t be an issue. When we returned, we were charged for an extra day and told we had to return the gear Friday, as opposed to the Saturday by 12pm as initially promised. I explained the situation, but the charges stood.
It’s clear that the staff are just a bunch of Bros that lacks professionalism and competency, and say whatever to get through the day. It's worth going to the Christy Sports or Epic Store...
