My son got a concussion during golf lessons at Hyland Hills.
The instructors crammed a bunch of kids onto the driving range , failed to give them adequate spacing, care, or safety instruction, and he was smacked. After it happened, they didnât even bother to call us to let us know what happened. We had to run around searching for him after he was missing during pick up time.
We arrived to pick him up right on time. The instructors just let all the kids go a minute early. We assumed our son was still on the driving range with the instructors, but he wasnât. We asked two instructors where he was and they were like, âI donât know, all the kids just kinda decided to go.â The one who said this was a young man, and the older man with him snickered and nudged the young man not to say stuff like that. My husband ran toward the lodge to look for our son and found him sitting at the table with two guys, an ice pack, a bandaid on the bridge of his nose, and blood spattered all over him. They thought he didnât have a concussion, but when it was time to stand up and go, my son couldnât stand. We put him in the car and he started falling asleep.
We took him straight to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion.
Two days later, no call from the Hyland Hills Golf, no follow up asking how he is doing. No mention of the full incident report they told us they would give us a copy of. I was pissed at this point, at the total lack of human decency or follow through, especially considering it involved A YOUNG BOYâS MAJOR INJURY ON THEIR TIME! I called the Executive Director of Hyland Hills, Yvonne Fischbach, and left a message. I figured she needed to know the abysmal experience we have had in one of her facilities, and that those employees were essentially ignoring the fact it happened. She didnât bother herself to call back. BTW, hereâs a quote from Yvonne from an article about her golf club, âThe Last Word with⌠Yvonne Fischbach, November 1, 2016 by Deborah Vence.
As the executive director of Hyland Hills, Fischbach's primary goal is to continue the legacy of providing first-class recreational facilities and opportunities to the community.
"We will ensure that our facilities are kept up to the highest standards for our guestsâŚâ
"We will also continue to reach out to our community and guests to make sure we are providing them with the services that are important to them and continue to give them the best possible recreational experience," she added.
Haha. Good one.
My husband went to Hyland Hills Golf Course the following week to follow up with them and get the full incident report. He had a meeting with their total prick of a GM, Val Heim, who proceeded to insinuate our child is mentally ill because he was hit with a club and thatâs on him. Our son is 7 BTW.
So there ya go. IMO, this place has irresponsible, negligent employees with bad attitudes and no decency. Believe the bad reviews and donât send...
Read moreWas unaware there are multiple courses at Greg Mastriona Hyland Hills Golf Course complex. I did not book the round. I showed up first for our tee time, so I paid for the group of three($250). đ¤Śââď¸ Was not informed by young/new employee at check in what course to start at. Weekday business golf outing with a vendor and a customer, LFG! Why work at the office when you can hit golf balls right?
Ok, letâs hit some balls. Went to driving range. You can only hit off mats. đđť Range was in very poor condition.
5 min to tee time. Come back towards clubhouse and the first tee box I see says hole #1. Pulled up past the sign to hit and didnât notice the small letters that said blue course. So we teed off on wrong color course. No starter. No announcements were made for our group.
Hyland Hills Gold and Blue golf courseâs hole #1s are side by side. By 30 feet. We started noticing our GPS devices were off on the second hole. Realized we were on the wrong course by 5. Stopped at the clubhouse and golf pro shop after nine to see what to do.
We made the mistake of dealing with Esa Marie. She couldnât care less. She was unwilling to make a reasonable accommodation for our group. Either wait over an hour or take a rain check. She was unwilling to take any accountability for the the mixup. Pretty sure she hates life, based on her attitude and unkept appearance in a professional environment.
I donât blame the kid that checked me in. Failures with bad customer service usually stem from bad training from supervisors and upper management failing to reenforce. All other employees were professional, cared about their appearance and ready for work. 5 stars for those employees.
I can think of two reasonable accommodations to avoid this bad experience. The gold golf course at Hyland Hills does not return to the club house at the turn.
Option 1: Have a Marshal drive us out to 10 on gold and slot us where we were supposed to be. We paid for it right?
Option 2: Slot us right behind the last tee time to check in. Tell everyone else you are running 5 mins behind. If they havenât checked in at the pro shop they wonât know the difference.
Not that hard to accommodate. Doesnât ruin anyones golfing experience.
We had a schedule and couldnât wait over an hour. I asked for a partial refund. âYou teed off! No refunds!â. I responded âWell our golf group didnât get what I just paid 250 bucks forâ. âI can only give you partial rain checks on the accountâ. I didnât make the original tee time or want to setup an account. She wouldnât budge. I told my business associate to keep the partial rain checks and we left.
TLDR: I paid $250 for 9 holes of golf. We went from excited to play golf and do some business, to âWelp I guess we are only playing 9 todayâ and leaving...
Read moreNot sure who the head pro was in 2015. I called to see if they had a PGA rate and the Head Pro was very short with me. I was a class A member at the time. Ironically the Head Professional told me that, "Not all PGA memberships are created equal," like he was talking to a child. Maybe he was referring to special Public Course Head Pro Club that I did not know about. If a Class A PGA member can't get a twilight discount at a course my taxes go to, then why do I pay all these PGA dues? I had spent a lot of time and money to get my degree and class A membership. This attitude towards a fellow PGA member seemed unprofessional and uncalled for. However the Head Pro was enjoying his high horse and lecturing me about the Kolorado PROFESSIONAL Golfer's Assoc. All he had to say was no. I felt it was racially motivated as I began to get the same attitude from the rest of the PGA members around that time. Thankfully I am out of the industry, so now I am able to share my experiences being a former Class A member in the Kolorado PGA of America. When I was in the industry, any talk like this would lead to immediate make up a reason to fire you and blackballing. Which they eventually did. I am just hoping that other people don't spend time and money getting a golf degree to be treated like a second class citizen at a public golf course. The money is also terrible, Truckers make more than this guy, butt they don't get the...
