Was unaware there are multiple courses at Greg Mastriona Hyland Hills Golf Course complex. I did not book the round. I showed up first for our tee time, so I paid for the group of three($250). 🤦♂️ Was not informed by young/new employee at check in what course to start at. Weekday business golf outing with a vendor and a customer, LFG! Why work at the office when you can hit golf balls right?
Ok, let’s hit some balls. Went to driving range. You can only hit off mats. 👎🏻 Range was in very poor condition.
5 min to tee time. Come back towards clubhouse and the first tee box I see says hole #1. Pulled up past the sign to hit and didn’t notice the small letters that said blue course. So we teed off on wrong color course. No starter. No announcements were made for our group.
Hyland Hills Gold and Blue golf course’s hole #1s are side by side. By 30 feet. We started noticing our GPS devices were off on the second hole. Realized we were on the wrong course by 5. Stopped at the clubhouse and golf pro shop after nine to see what to do.
We made the mistake of dealing with Esa Marie. She couldn’t care less. She was unwilling to make a reasonable accommodation for our group. Either wait over an hour or take a rain check. She was unwilling to take any accountability for the the mixup. Pretty sure she hates life, based on her attitude and unkept appearance in a professional environment.
I don’t blame the kid that checked me in. Failures with bad customer service usually stem from bad training from supervisors and upper management failing to reenforce. All other employees were professional, cared about their appearance and ready for work. 5 stars for those employees.
I can think of two reasonable accommodations to avoid this bad experience. The gold golf course at Hyland Hills does not return to the club house at the turn.
Option 1: Have a Marshal drive us out to 10 on gold and slot us where we were supposed to be. We paid for it right?
Option 2: Slot us right behind the last tee time to check in. Tell everyone else you are running 5 mins behind. If they haven’t checked in at the pro shop they won’t know the difference.
Not that hard to accommodate. Doesn’t ruin anyones golfing experience.
We had a schedule and couldn’t wait over an hour. I asked for a partial refund. “You teed off! No refunds!”. I responded “Well our golf group didn’t get what I just paid 250 bucks for”. “I can only give you partial rain checks on the account”. I didn’t make the original tee time or want to setup an account. She wouldn’t budge. I told my business associate to keep the partial rain checks and we left.
TLDR: I paid $250 for 9 holes of golf. We went from excited to play golf and do some business, to “Welp I guess we are only playing 9 today” and...
Read moreThis staff and management's incompetence and lies have given me the worst golf experience in my thousands of rounds over 70 years of play. Their course status page said carts were allowed on the course, and right before leaving home I called to make sure, as my senior handicap body doesn't do CART PATH ONLY. I was told TWICE that I could drive on the grass and get a handicap cart if needed. Once there, the starter told me "CART PATH ONLY" and refused to even let me drive 90 degrees across fairways to my ball. When I explained what I'd been told and my physical limitations, the starter said "Well, you can always go home." The next 5 hours were increasing pain and frustration, finally unable to walk any distance or make a full swing. All day, there was not a drop of rain and zero standing water. Post-round, when I explained my experience to a "manager," he replied with a condescending smirk "There's nothing we could do," making it crystal clear that they could not possibly care less. Worst of all, it was all totally and easily avoidable at every stage. Quite an honor, Hyland Hills - worst course experience ever in 70 years of golf.
**Re: Your response below - you did not offer me a REFUND. On the first tee you said I could leave and drive home without paying for A ROUND NOT PLAYED. That is not a refund, it's an insult. Worse, there were carts on your fairways all day until my 1:40 tee time, as the course was drying...
