
My experience with this venue started out great up until the pandemic happened. This is where things got very ugly and continued to get uglier.
I booked this venue in fall 2019 for an October 2020 wedding. Our payment was split into 4 and we had already paid our first + second installment by the time the pandemic happened. At the beginning of the pandemic (March 2020), we had an estimated 200 guest list, so we were worried that it would be greatly affected. We reached out to ask if we would be able to postpone our wedding to October 2021 due to fear that the government would not allow a gathering that size to happen.
The venue refused saying that things were expected to resume normality by August 2020 and if we really wanted to postpone our date, we would have to pay our 3rd installment (which is about 50% of the total). I refused to pay that amount so early on, especially if we were in a situation where we didn’t know what was going to happen. We emailed back and forth for a month, trying to get them to compromise on a fair agreement. They finally offered to move out date if we paid a non-refundable $2,000 fee that wouldn’t apply towards the cost of the wedding.
At that point, I was ready to take them to small claims court to fight for all of my money that I have already given them and take my business elsewhere. I understand that the pandemic affected businesses everywhere, but for them to be so money-hungry even when people were out of jobs, shutting down, and businesses going out of business were absolutely selfish and greedy.
After threatening them with small claims court, they agreed to postpone our wedding date to October 2021 without any fees or third installment having to be paid a year in advance.
During the 6 months leading up to the wedding, they have been unresponsive and unhelpful. I understand that emails aren’t answered from Thursday-Sunday due to weddings, but my emails would get ignored for 2 weeks at a time before I got a response AFTER I send a follow up email.
After I finalized my guest and table count, they approved it… but then went back 4 days later and said that I was short one table so I would have to pay out of pocket to cover it. I refused because I do not want to give this establishment anymore of our money. We had already put the rest of the money into the bar tab to hit the minimum for this venue. They decided to just give it to us by taking the table cost out of the bar tab.
