T&R Head Spa — Local services in Wheaton

Wow!

That’s how I felt after experiencing both my lash extension and Japanese Style Head Spa experience! This review is a long one folks…because I’m reviewing both services.

Located in a super unassuming professional building near Fox Bowl lies a hidden gem for beauty and relaxation seekers! There is a largish parking lot but because it also shares space with a couple of strip malls and the bowling alley, parking can at times be tricky, so be prepared in case you need to park a smidge farther.

This business was running through my social feeds and I’m glad I finally went in to give them a try! After all, self care is the best kind of care because you don’t want to be the one left with the empty cup after you’ve filled everyone else’s! Ok that’s my PSA for the day LOL

I’ve had eyelash extensions before but found the upkeep to definitely be a process and commitment…but to see that there is a new client special and a fill membership…I was definitely drawn in and intrigued!

The spa is run by two lovely sisters, Emisa and Donna and I was able to experience services from both of them. Initially i was thinking about doing back to back services of the lash extensions and head spa but couldn’t get my schedule right…so I opted to go on different days. Scheduling online was easy and questions I had were promptly answered via DM on IG when I asked.

I received a full set of lash extensions and I felt the consultation I had with Emisa was thorough and she listened to my concerns as well as the look I was interested in. For the most part I said I’m deferring to your experience and expertise for my eye shape and want to look cute in photos bwaaaaa so I prefer to refrain from looking sleepy or generally crazy.

What I love is that they offer a 3 day guarantee…if something happens to the lashes within the 3 days, they will fix it for no additional costs. Of course in the 24 hours between my lash appointment and head spa appointment I had 1 rogue eyelash fighting its way to lay in the opposite direction of every single other one…and I was able to get that fixed without any incident after my head spa treatment!

They also have membership pricing for fills so if you decide to continue with the upkeep, the membership would definitely be nice to be able to have your appointments ready to go every 10 days. So your lashes always look full and you don’t have a weird interim with 3 lashes on one eye and 10 on the other lol.

They have 2 head spa rooms; so technically 2 people could go at the same time, but be in different rooms.

I had my head spa service with Donna and it was absolutely AMAZING! We started the session with a look at my scalp under the scope and discovered I have oily hair and quite a bit of product buildup. Next I laid down in the treatment table to get my scalp intensive treatment which included multiple shampooing, head steaming, scalp mask, and massages of my head, neck, shoulders, arms , and hands!

I found the treatment to be very relaxing and invigorating at the same time. The products all smell amazing with different aromotherapy profiles. A variety of implements were also used to brush and comb thru my hair. A lot left a cooling sensation on my scalp. When the ritual was complete we went to go look at my scalp again under the scope and it revealed a lot less funk and gunk! Then I was handed a list of teas they had available and I chose the organic ginger tea.

I was happy Donna lightly blow dried my hair so I wouldn't be roaming around town potentially having frozen hair. In other words this is NOT a full blowout.

I would definitely love to get a head spa treatment regularly so going to work this into my regularly...

I am beyond elated to have had my first scalp treatment. Ivy is exceptional at her craft. From the moment I sat down to analyze my scalp, she gave a comprehensive review and pointed out areas of concern as well as areas that were extremely healthy. She provided a treatment plan to balance my problem areas and that was just the beginning of it. The scalp treatment itself was d i v i n e. I felt completely at ease under her care, and she was intentional but gentle in her approach. She found all the problematic myofascia in my scalp and neck areas. She was able to release tightness in these particularly tense regions all while transitioning me through the treatment. I felt completely relaxed and attended to in the most thoughtful and detail oriented way. I have never undertaken this type of treatment and now that I see the results, I am undoubtedly going to weave it into my quarterly wellness regimen. If you have been considering trying out T&R Head Spa, do it!! Today I had the 90 minute scalp detox with Donna and 60 minute facial with Emisa and had an incredible experience. The salon is clean and is nicely designed. I have never done a scalp detox before and wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, but Donna did such a great job describing what she was going to be doing to remove the build up and dead skin on my scalp. The whole process takes place while you’re lying on a very comfortable bed under blankets and was so relaxing. Donna placed a heated eye mask on me and incorporated the use of essential oils. It felt to nice to have my scalp rubbed and exfoliated under warm flowing water. She even incorporated hot stone massage. Afterwards she blow-dryed my hair and showed me with the camera how clean my scalp was. My head and hair feel amazing! Next I had a facial with Emisa. She gave me tips on how to lessen my rosacea and incorporated several treatments into my facial including red-light therapy, serums, and a mask to help calm my skin. I can’t wait to come back again.
