Buona — Restaurant in Glen Ellyn

A little disappointed only because I know it can be way better. I’d like to give them a break for their first Friday open, but I’m really not inclined to. They have way too much experience to draw from. First they brought a sausage pizza for my daughter instead of cheese. Ok not a huge deal. Then I got my cheddar burger and my son got his 10” baptized beef which we both cut each in half and shared with each other. So I love brioche buns, but weirdly half of it was extremely hard. Then my son cut the beef in half and it was mostly dry as you could see by the photo. Definitely not baptized. We also asked for sport peppers on the side and received sweet instead. Also my burger tasted bland, could of used more season and it salt. Also the piece of lettuce (actually Romain which is a plus) had the big vein that Romain does that should of been removed. Last not so good thing was the Dr. Pepper mix seemed off as it was slightly on the seltzer side (wish they had the newer soda machines). The good, strawberry shake was awesome as were the fries as usual and the pizza wasn’t bad either. We also really enjoyed the Christian music that was playing in the background. Overall disappointed, but I’ll be back because I know they can and it probably will be better next time. I really hope so since at $33 this isn’t a cheap meal for me and my two children. Could I have complained? Sure, but I’m not like that, I’d like my food done right...

This post was made 9 months ago: Food is good, but consistency is poor. I don’t go there often, but when I do it is usually via the drive through and they ALWAYS forget something. This time was for 2 sides of cups of cheese for cheese fries (for which they charged us for and for which we paid). Get home, open the bag and see that 2 cups of cheese are missing. We called the store, explained the situation, they said that they can see that they forgot to add the cheese cups and will issue a credit, but then the ask us to hold. 5 minutes later, someone else answers the phone, explain the story to him, he says he will issue a credit, but says please hold..after waiting 10 minutes, hung up and left this review.

This post Made on 11/2/21, tried to order through the drive through at 8:00PM. I get kids screwing around on the microphone drive through, mocking me. Fortunately for me, no one was behind me, so I backed out and went to Alfie’s next door. I don’t think I will be patronizing this location anytime soon, which is a shame, because it is a block...

We were visiting from out of state and craving beef sandwiches. As a vegan I was so excited to try their vegan beef. We ordered 4 regular beef sandwiches and 4 plant-based beef sandwiches (and 4 large fries). Alice was very polite and efficient taking our order. The food was ready promptly and packaged well to take home. At first it was a little difficult determining which sandwiches were the beef and which were plant based because they weren’t marked at all, but we figured it out once we opened them up (plant based are more peppery and a slightly different color.) The flavor of the vegan sandwiches was delicious and spot-on from what I remember a Buona Beef sandwich tasting like. Their fries are not vegan or vegetarian, but my family that ate them said they were horrible (dry and cold even though only a 10 minute drive home) and not worth getting next time.
