Have shopped in this store in the past and had a fine experience but yesterday was truly terrible. I work in retail and tend to go with the flow and completely understand what retail employees have to do to make sales and do well in their jobs but what the employee did yesterday was just not a good experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt like the associate who helped me the entire time thought I was going to steal (I had an item that I possibly wanted to exchange), continuously told me I was a bigger size than I actually am, and was very passive aggressive/aggressive in her sales tactics. I genuinely do not want to come back to this store again (which I honestly NEVER say) but this experience was just so absolutely uncomfortable that it really turned me off. The associate also took away certain items I wanted to try on before I even got the chance because "they wouldn't be a good fit for me" and made me feel terrible about trying on items during Covid (but kept giving me items in bigger sizes to I guess prove her point?) I told her I was uncomfortable at one point with something she asked and she goes "well I know your comfort comes first but I can't help you best unless you do so and so" which I thought was a very passive thing to say. This store and maybe the company have gotten very pushy in their sales tactics which is frustrating since the clothes are already very expensive and honestly not the most stylish. I really hate leaving reviews like this but my experience was truly not a good one and really left a bad taste in my mouth about Torrid. This review doesn't cover all of the not so great things that happened during my experience, just a heads up. Hopefully they change their selling tactics and coach their employees to provide their service in a more supportive, inclusive, and...
Read moreAfter visiting this establishment twice, I am unequivocally certain that I will never return. Furthermore, I will regretfully advise my colleagues to avoid wasting their time and money at this store. During my second visit—despite the first being somewhat tolerable—I witnessed a display of unprofessionalism that is absolutely unacceptable.
A woman named Lisa M. Harper was screaming at employees in a highly disrespectful manner. Her demeanor was disgraceful; she decried the store as horrible when, in fact, it was not. What’s worse, she completely ignored the fact that I was present as a customer who had already invested time and money there, with plans to spend more. It was almost as if she was intentionally aiming to embarrass and shame the staff—for no reason whatsoever.
An older employee confided that this behavior is habitual for her, and it is now painfully clear why so many employees are leaving that establishment. If she treats her staff with such contempt, I can only imagine how little regard she has for customers like myself.
There are far better options elsewhere, such as Macy’s or JCPenney. Witnessing this appalling behavior firsthand has been enough—I will be reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau, and I will also be informing my friends and family. The level of unprofessionalism displayed here is utterly unacceptable. With this said- I only gave them a 1 star because I couldn’t give...
Read moreThe store is small, but brimming with finds if you have the time and few other customers are in the store. Be prepared to do several passes through the store as the staff doesn't even have a solid idea where items are located. This is likely due to their brand's fast fashion model, with limited pieces available for a short period of time, sometimes of varying quality.
Staffing can be hit or miss, with either several people to assist or one staff member trying to manage greeting, the register, and fitting rooms. That being said, the fit is excellent. These are not standard sizes with inches added, but pieces drafted to be flattering to...
