My 12 year old daughter was inside of her dance class and while the instructor Ms. Sarah was teaching a parent walked in and stood in my daughter’s face and start yelling at my 12 year old daughter in front of the whole class full of girls; however, my daughter was shocked and did not know what was going on and the teacher was shocked to where she did not say anything to this parent, or she did not report the incident. As evidence by I reported the incident to Mrs. Tasha the person who is over the dance program and she came back and told me that the parent and child is going through some personal stuff and so she hope that I understood; however, she did not address the parent due to the fact that her and the parent are close friends. So, what she basically informed me that she is not going to do anything to this parent and so I ask several of times to speak to the director and to have a meeting with all and she would not give me the director information, or she would not set up a meeting. So, I called the North YMCA several times and ask to speak to the person who is over Mrs. Tasha and it is Jamie; however, the front desk kept screening Jamie calls and asking who is this and when I would tell them who I am and my concern they come back to the line and say, “Jamie is not available; however, I can put you through her voice mail”. So, I asked may I please speak to the director who is over the North YMCA and at that time they said hold on and about two minutes later Jamie came on the line and she was refusing to put me on with the director. So, months went by and one day I pulled up to the YMCA and the director came out and introduced himself to me and stated that he did not know this was going on and this is his first time hearing this and Mrs. Tasha and Jamie did not address any of this with him. So, I informed him everything that has been going on and how for months that my baby was been bullied by parents and how Mrs. Tasha let the dance parent and dance staff talk bad on me to where they slander my name and Mrs. Tasha fell to put a stop to it because she is very close with these dance moms. However, I do have a meeting with the director so I will keep all inform to let you all know how it plays out. However, there is a lot more incidents that took place and that went unnoticed and unseen and the staff seemed friendly, but don't let them fool you. But, anyway my daughter is a nice, sweet, and humble child and dance is her passion and I just want to see my daughter succeed in a positive environment with positive supporters. The Code of Conduct is in effect for the YMCA; however, the dance program does not follow the code of conduct they make up their own rules and policy and just to let you know, I am African-American and so is my daughter and the dance team treated her as if she were there slave and the instructor does not listen to your side she is one side and she loves to try to bring down your character as an African American. So, at this point I do NOT recommend dancing for the North YMCA (Grits) dance team; however, the dance staff are not fair to you if you are African American and they not once apologize to...
Read moreI have been a member of the YMCA for several years. However, over the last eight months, I have not utilized any of their facilities. Despite this, the YMCA has continued to charge me monthly membership fees. I accepted this as I was unsure if I would be able to make it there due to time constraints. Recently, the membership fees increased, prompting me to reconsider the value I am getting from this membership.
The issues began when I decided to cancel my membership, having determined that I would no longer be utilizing their services. When I attempted to cancel my membership over the phone, I was informed that cancellations must be done in person at a local YMCA branch. This requirement seemed unnecessary, as the front desk staff at the location were able to cancel my membership almost instantaneously.
Upon requesting confirmation of my membership cancellation, the staff member indicated that I should receive an email, although he was uncertain about this. He also mentioned that I would still be charged for the upcoming draft on the 15th, despite having just confirmed the cancellation. This contradictory information was frustrating and confusing.
When I sought further clarification, I was provided with the contact information of the local Membership Director, who was unavailable at the time. After reaching out to her, she politely explained that the YMCA's policy requires a 30-day notice for cancellations. This policy effectively means that members must visit the location on the day their current month's fee is drafted to avoid additional charges.
In summary, the YMCA's cancellation process appears to be intentionally cumbersome, making it difficult for members to terminate their memberships without incurring additional fees. The staff seemed unwilling to understand customers' situations or attempt to help them, preferring instead to repeat policies back to the customers. This experience has been disappointing and has left me questioning the organization's commitment to customer service.

I wanted to update this review and mention that the director of this location Trey was able to give me a call and inform me he discussed this with the staff and apologized for the experience. He was able to fix my billing issue and better explain how the new billing cycle works at the Y. I will say it is still very cumbersome and would make alot more sense if it was structured more like a normal subscription service instead.
At the end of the day, I appreciate Trey's call and honestly. He was able to correct the issue in a 3 minute phone call. I just wish the staff had escalated the issue to someone who could help instead of...
Read moreI gave it a 1 star only because I had to. I actually give it a big fat 0. I have never had a problem with this YMCA we come to the outside pool every summer cuz my kids like the wave pool. Never again we have never been so disrespected at this YMCA before like we were today. I bought my kids for my daughter's birthday and we were treated so horribly and no sorry is gonna be worth what we went through. The staff is so disrespectful. I was talking to them when I bought my day pass about a membership but I rethought that really quick. Every other year when I bought a day pass for my family I was charged $18 for my family I wish I kept the receipts to prove it to the dude at the desk that wanted to argue with me then charge me $10 per person and really said it's been that way. Then at the beginning of the conversation he also told me that I could apply that towards my membership when I get it and when I asked to make sure I could apply the $50 I just spent on a day pass to the membership I was thinking about getting he says no. A membership for my family is 57.90 but I just paid $50 for one lousy day here if disrespectful employees. If you don't like your job maybe you should get a different one. My kids didn't deserve that oh and happy to my daughter who was treated like dirt. I love coming to this YMCA well we won't be back and if you have an inch of a heart you would give us a refund. That would be a true thing to do especially my d being treated like dirt on her birthday. I will be going to channel 12 cuz I already no that these reviews don't mean anything to you. They get skimmed through and then an apology which is just said cuz you think it's gonna make it better. News...
