I can't even say customer service is terrible because you have to provide a service to even fail at it!
We spent over $3,000 to purchase and install new floors and baseboards. We were told three times on two different occasions that we also had to remove the casing around the doors and closets. This didn't make since to us hence the reason we asked multiple times from different people. Since we were told by multiple people at Home Depot this was the case we removed all the old casing. Since it was old and had been painted over numerous times it broke and we decided to update and buy new casing rather than piece the old casing back together.
We contact Home depot to finalize our order and asked if we could installation of the new casing to the order. We were told that could not be added. Since they don't do measurements for casing they could not quote us a price on it. We were told we'd have to find someone ourselves to do that and it was suggested we talk to the contractor Home Depot was hiring to see if they could/would do it why they were in our home.
We contacted the contractor - Cooper Installation - who gave us a price of $891! That is all much as much as we were paying to install the flooring and base board in 3 rooms and a hallway. We contacted Home Depot corporate to make a complaint and explain this extra cost was caused by bad information from Home Depot employees. We were told to hire the work ourself and then submit the invoice and Home Depot would see if they could do anything to help with the extra cost we incurred.
We spoke to the sub-contractor doing the actual work and was told the casings could be done for $300. It's important to know that the casing need to be done BEFORE the base boards go down so you have the right measurements. However, since they were contracted through Home Depot they could not do the work themselves unless Home Depot approved it.
Calls and a visit to home depot and no approval! I went to home depot today asking for a simply phone call with approval and I'd pay $300 out of my pocket to get the job done properly. Instead I was interrupted when I was trying to explain and told I could have a $200 creidt against the $891 price to do the same work. In other words they wanted me to pay $691 more to fix an issue caused by their employees. I ended up cancelling the installation of the baseboards and walking out with a refund for that.
One phone call could have solved this issue and instead Home Depot had to refund me money. Not sure how they stay in business.
I will urge everyone to go elsewhere for your home...
Read moreI have always been a Home Depot customer. I buy almost everything there. So when my wife and I bought a house this August that we wanted to remodel we knew right where we were going for our home remodel and appliance needs. That was until about 2 weeks ago. We ordered a patio door and a bunch of wood to put down before we did our flooring. When we ordered it….it says it was at the store and could be delivered the next day. I was like great because we were trying to get done and moved in by Thanksgiving. They called us and said they can’t haul doors on a flat bed and it would have to be delivered Saturday. We said ok what time and they said it is anytime from 6 am to 8 pm. So we sat at our house all day Saturday with no call or delivery. I called and they said it would be there on Monday. I said that’s not what was discussed and we waited around over 12 hours waiting for this door. They refunded my shipping and said it would for sure be there Monday. We waited there Monday all day no delivery again. We called and were told the drivers were sick they would call us to reschedule. Waited Tuesday and Wednesday for a call no call so called then they said it would be there Friday. We waited around again all day 12+ hours no door again. I called and the girl was very nice and apologized for everything and said she would make it happen on Saturday. Then another manager called Saturday and gave me the original it can’t go on a flat bed story and it couldn’t be delivered till Monday I told them to cancel it because it has been almost two weeks from the original delivery date and we had waited around at our unfinished house for over 36 hours waiting for supposed delivery. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this store. The girl I talked to was good but the rest of them had a very we don’t care attitude about them. Sad thing is it’s not just this $1000 order they lost it’s all the appliances and rest of materials we were going to buy there. Not to mention they lost a loyal customer. Customers are just numbers for Home Depot. I am considering turning them into the better business bureau. If I could give zero stars I would. I don’t think they...
Read moreI bought a sink from Home Depot and it started rusting after less than 3 months. I called the store and at first customer service person basically said they weren’t going to do anything. She gave two different reasons why they weren’t going to help me with the defective product or give me my money back. I finally asked to talk to a manager. The manager said he would only give me a refund if I uninstalled the sink and brought it up to Home Depot. That obviously wouldn’t cover the cost of a plumber installing it. He said he would give me a a portion of the cost of the sink back and I agreed thinking that sounded fair. That was a month ago. I’ve emailed and called the store numerous times and they keep saying they have emailed the gift card but I have never received it. I don’t even get calls back now. Gutter customer service. In the same time frame, I also went in to buy windows for my house. A big purchase, obviously. I have dealt with six people at Home Depot and not one of them seems to know how to use their window ordering software correctly. Last night I had four of their employees stare at me while I was waiting for service. They were grouped in the back of an aisle, talking and staring at my wife and I while we waited at the desk where you order windows. None of them knew how to do anything with ordering windows so they told me to come back on Monday. That was pretty much the final straw for me. I went to Lowe’s to order windows for my house and I have dealt with three different people and all of them knew exactly how to put the order in and were extremely helpful. I spent a couple hundred dollars more at Lowe’s but it took me less than 30 minutes to get my windows ordered opposed to trying to get someone at Home Depot to figure out how to order the correct windows. I’ve never seen a business make it so hard to spend thousands of dollars. I always thought Home Depot was better than this. Obviously not. I don’t give reviews very often, but felt like I should this time so other people don’t waste the time and money at Home Depot like I had to. Just go to Lowe’s right away and you’ll be...
