Colonial Iron Gym — Local services in Williamsburg

Talk about Nostalgia! This gym is everything you’d want and more. It’s like getting to lift in the old school when the equipment was new for them. So many top tier brand pieces that you may have never seen or haven’t seen in years and they’ve been refurbished so well you wouldn’t believe they’ve been around for decades. Everything hits the muscle group your training so uniquely I couldn’t have made a better choice by signing up at Colonial Iron to take my physique to the next level. This is truly the gym the brings you back.

This is a no nonsense gym! So if you want a gym where you’re not constantly getting caught in someone’s gym videos or stumbling over tripods. This is your gym. Content creation is welcomed but as it should be there’s a time for everything and it’s surely not during peak hours. They’ve created a unique and innovative method of controlling recording, tripods and posing allowance with a sleek LED light bar on the wall that will indicate when recording, tripods or posing is allowed.

The staff if very friendly and helpful and always on the job when it comes to cleanliness. The floors are always clean, the bathrooms and locker rooms are clean and tight.

Most importantly management is A1. They are wholeheartedly for their members. Anyone causing drama for the members they’re out. They listen to and implement so much feedback from the members. The gym wasn’t equipped with the owners favorite pieces, it was equipped with the favorites of the members. 1 week you’d ask about a piece and 1-2 weeks later it was being put in place. The annual fee that you pay at other gyms and never see where your money goes…. Well that won’t be the case here. They will let the members have input on where that money can go to make the gym better. I couldn’t name another gym that prioritizes their members in that capacity.

I’m from NJ and I was heading to Williamsburg for Memorial Day Weekend. I had asked in a group if they knew of any gyms in the area and someone suggested Colonial Iron! I was beyond happy with them from start to finish! Connecting through instagram to ask if I could do a guest pass, to the day of, and the workout. It was all beyond amazing. The equipment is awesome! There’s so many different bars, equipment from machines to free weights to cardio. One of my favorite parts was the awesome murals they have painted! I had started my workout and the owners came up to greet me! Very personable and I even felt comfortable to ask for a spot on my bench! Although I am sad I missed out on their Texas rack. I was hesitant about joining gyms because of the stereotype that is associated with them, but this place is great. Harry is great. He's calm and considerate, is firm, but treats you like a friend. The owner, Joey, is amazing and offered his personal time to help my son get into weights when an event fell through. The gym itself is clean and smells great. For the most part, the clientele that weightlift keep to their own and are friendly and offer advice when needed, in case of poor form to prevent accident or injury. There is only one fella that grunts and groans and makes the place feel uncomfortable with his presence, but I'm not letting one person ruin it; he's just doing his thing. It's a steep price compared to others, but it has a great vibe and is the perfect solution if you are looking for a family owned...
