The condition of the structure's outside did not immediately alert me to its true condition (although I missed how the front office shades/curtains were scarum/crooked). My anger and disappointment began upon crossing into the guest hallway. *I was greeted with old-appearing grime/stains on the walls and all the wooden surfaces I saw. There is a heavy, stale smell that existed throughout the dimly-lit hallways-decorated on each end by frosted-over, or moisture laden windows, such that I could not properly see through the glass. *My experience is that there was an air of neglectful instability here generated by the apparent uncertainty of the surroundings. I would describe the feeling as disturbing, or unsettling. Other Observations: Hole in the wall above the bathroom sink that ran the entire length of the light fixture. Ice machine inoperable, and there is only one for two floors of hotel rooms. Seeing its condition, I'm undoubtedly fortunate it was a deadline failure, and it is likely I should be thankful of this. Security became a deep concern, as all the doors I saw exiting to the outside were blocked open by doorstops, except the front door, as it was a sliding door. Adding to the creepy feel of the surroundings, there was a man out back, drinking and smoking at a picnic table past midnight, alone, and singing to himself. There were three cars in the parking lot. This can indicate lack of interest in a location-for whatever reasons. Although, I was surprised I did NOT see cars up on blocks, nor lawn chairs in front of doors. The elevator felt unstable, slow, and smelled like exhaust fumes such that you felt it was going to (too slowly of course) deliver you to the River Styx as your final destination. There were 4 law enforcement officers standing outside on the date of my arrival, chatting together on the sidewalk in front, in the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure now that I should've been glad they were there, yet I had no idea why they were. My room was dark, dank, dingy, poorly-painted, and in many spots, surfaces were gouged, soiled/stained. The stairwell appeared to me to be one of the types one would anticipate being found in an underfunded prison or abandoned insane asylum. It was shaky, dark, filthy, and was not secured by any locked doors. I saw no animals in the room. However, my room was so stenchful, it enveloped you as you entered. The A/C only barely worked, yet it worked. The "breakfast" was the nice lady handing you a bag of random breakfast items that I could not bring myself to eat. The only positive aspect of the entire visit was the front desk lady. She is a VERY kind and competent soul to have to deal with foolishness of this level. Yet, I would have done better sleeping in the car or sleeping on the ground outside. There was a stain on the fitted sheet: brownish-yellow, about the size of an orange. Missing security latch on the inside of our hotel room door. It was simply missing. While the latch was present on the door jamb, there was no anchoring point on the door. This is unacceptable. I understand this latch alone will not completely protect you from unauthorized access, it adds another layer of security. Due to an unfortunate situation unrelated to this purported hotel, I left the following morning, not to return. Note that I was completely refunded the money I had already provided them based upon my anticipated length of stay, yet I did not sleep because of the lack of security. Indeed, the use of the name "Wyndham" is unfortunate for this location, as I've NEVER experienced a Wyndham property this poorly-presented, disturbing, and neglected. It was truly a disgusting and unfortunate location to me, and I've stayed in some profoundly poor lodgings over the years, due to one reason or another.
This location is simply a shame, and anyone who experiences this place yet is not disgusted, should not be trusted...
Read moreImagine it; you're looking for a hotel, one that embodies a long, pained history, bodily proclaiming dark secrets within its walls. You want to be able to smell its complexity, one so vast that each segment of the hallway smells unique. You're not here to rest, after all; you're here to experience.
You behold your room. Its presence intimidates you, as if it were a grizzled veteran of a war unknown to all but itself. It's clean; however, housekeeping staff are employed to maintain the room to a certain standard, one which itself has been weathered down with time.
A clean enough room with a checkered past? "Hardly worth noting", you say to yourself. You're no snob, and you understand the plight of the fellow working class. And while you take mental note of the water stains, which ebb and flow on the ceiling above the rather stiff bed and the "might as well be" cushion-less coach, you nod with affirmation. Surely, this will do fine for one night....
Hours later, you return to the room. Night has fallen, and exhaustion has overtaken you. The room welcomes you back, though the bed quickly reminds you that you're far from home. You and your loved one find a shower absolutely welcoming, but during preparation, you notice a distinct lack of towels...
Well, you came prepared with your own so...that's hardly anything.
You're loved one goes first, after all she's the one who wanted you to come and has done so much to make this trip enjoyable. So, you turn on the cable television, a flash of 20th centuries past. Soon, your loved one returns from the bathroom, and despite your efforts, you both realize the showerhead is not working properly.
She calls the front desk, and a young man comes up to help. You have no doubt he thinks that perhaps you're both just incapable, and well, you don't blame him. He comes in with clean towels too, which is very appreciated! Unfortunately, he informs you that, at some point, a past guest seems to have broken the switch that forces the water to flow to the showerhead.
So, showering is not an option. "It's fine", you say and simply decide to not shower. Your loved one makes do, taking a bit of a bird bath.
You both attempt to sleep, she somewhat more successfully than you. You find yourself...anxious. A cold soft drink would've been nice, but the Pepsi machine doesn't work. The bed grows from stiff to sheer uncomfortable, and you find yourself exhaustingly begging to slumber to embrace you. It finally does, hours into the morning.
You awake, having slept 3 hours, and feel stiff and sore. Your loved one brings you both breakfast from Wendy's, and that lightens your mood a little. You find yourself somewhat reinvigorated as you pack, envisioning the near future of freedom.
As you take a final look around the room, you recall your original intent; to experience. And that you have! You smile, and give the room an appreciative nod. It tested you, and you've passed!
The same gentlemen who aided you that night is, for whatever reason, still working at 9 am when you check out. You silently respect his endurance. After all, he works here, while you barely made it through the night.
You cast your eyes on the building, one last time before leaving the parking lot. You don't believe in God, but you make the sign of the cross, and thank the universe that you'll never be...
Read moreSTAY AWAY!!!!! We purchased a king bed and got 2 full side bed. The whole place smell like cigarette. The pool was getting renovated, instead of renovating the pool what they need to do was to put the money in working key cards and renovation to the whole entire place instead of the pool. This looked like a half way house more the a hotel. The place is extremist very very VERY OLD and dingy. We got there and the room door was already open we went back to the front desk and asked as to why and if we had the right room. They mention that yes and the maid hasnt finished cleaning the room and she may be at lunch. Mine you it was closes to 430 already. I looked at the pillow and it looked like it had blood stains on it. I sat on the bed oh lord i almost fell off. The bed was so worn out. We had no towels that's probably cuz the main hasnt finished cleaning yet. And then the door why didnt the key card work. What does that mean....we couldn't leave our stuff or leave until we check out??? If we were to go out and thats a giving because we wouldnt be able to open the door cuz the key card didn't work. Yeah no thank you. The maid came by and we let her know the room still dirty the sheets look lile it had blood stains and she said well you get what you paid for. No breakfast no pool not safe as all. I eish i took some picture of the place because the picture they had are definitely not what it looks like.
