I’ve been shopping at this location since I moved to Williamsburg almost a year ago. I’ve never had a problem with them until today. I recently purchased an item that was Food Lion brand it was less than satisfactory. Per the packaging all of the Food Lion brand products have a double your money back guarantee. I went into the store to inquire about it. The first person I spoke with said that they would only honor that if I had the receipt. I said I didn’t have the receipt. I asked if they could look it up with the MVP card since I’m getting detailed marketing emails that are tailored to what I purchase. She said that I could look it up on the app and then while I was looking for it she disappeared to do something else. The next person who came over basically told me the same thing and was communicating with the first person on their walkie talkie earpiece. When I showed her that it was listed in my previous purchases on the app, she said she needed the receipt in order to prove that I had purchased it. Even though it was listed under Past Purchases on the app. I told her I would not be back to shop here for groceries and she said “That’s fine with me.” Reflecting some serious attitude for someone who’s in a customer service role. As I was walking out I saw the picture of the store manager and realized that neither of the people I spoke with at this point were the store manager. I asked to speak with the supervisor of the person that I spoke with originally. When the store manager came over she said that she didn’t have all of the details and so I explained what had transpired to this point. She explained the Double Money Back Guarantee only applied to fresh products like meats and produce. I pointed out the it was written on the packaging. I also showed her where my purchases were listed under “Past Purchases” in the app. She was surprised to learn that the Double Money Back was printed on the packaging. She told the second person who had dealt with to give me my money back and to double it. It shouldn’t take going all the way up the chain of management to get a store to honor the commitment they claim to make. While I did get my money back double, I don’t anticipate returning to this store given the attitudes of the previously dealt with employees. Why is customer service so hard for people who are in customer...
Read moreI was shopping today at Food Lion for last minute Thanksgiving items. I understand tensions are high, and people want to go home to be with family. But the way I heard this young lady Angela speaking to one of her coworkers was HIGHLY unprofessional. To yell, no nearly scream while cursing at a coworker on the middle of the sales floor in front of other customers was terrible to witness. I've always enjoyed shopping at Food Lion because it is a calm atmosphere and the workers are friendly. It seems to be a growing pattern every time I see this fire-cracker Angela, as it's not my first time as a customer witnessing thus behavior from her. Speaking to your coworkers like children, yelling and demeaning them isn't a workers place! This can cause an mentally unsafe environment that causes me to want to...
Read moreThe employees here are very friendly. The prices are a bit higher on many items than the store on Rt. 5. The produce here is horrible though. I went to get blueberries the other day and had to sort through at least a dozen containers that had mold growing in them already. I have never seen so much rotting produce in a store. Unfortunately, we have to drive to a different grocery store that is much farther from the house because we have lost so much money from produce here. Even when it looks decent, it rots within a day of bringing it home. When we brought a few items back for a refund, they acted like we were unreasonable and didn't honor their "Double Money Back Freshness Guarantee." On a different note, they never have more than one regular cashier, so he prepared to use...
