I frequent way too many places in life, but have never left a review… Tina’s Willowbrook Tailoring is SO GREAT that I felt the need to let people know how wonderful of a job they do there!! I’m embarrassed to guess the number of items I have had altered there, but let’s say when I went 2 weeks ago I altered 21 pieces. This week I’m picking up an expensive gown for Paris that I ONLY would trust Willowbrook Tailoring and Tina to do. I only wish there could be 10 Tina’s so she could get more of a break but she seems to be training someone to match her same attention to detail. All of the staff there has been nothing but kind, and have even dealt with some same day or day before dress alteration emergencies and accommodated.

Some of these reviews make me laugh. I think most people nowadays say someone is “rude” if the person is honest and tells it like it is. Tina’s going to be honest when you say you want to add pockets to a dress, and she says “no it will make you look big. it adds bulk to your hips”. …it’s not her being mean and hurting your feelings.. it’s someone who is actually being honest with you and looking out for you. Because unfortunately pockets do add volume to your sides and not in a flattering way! :) I worked in personal shopping at Neimans in Chicago so I’m very picky when it comes to where I get my clothes altered, by being in alteration fittings for a good chunk of the days! Horrible service! Have taken shoes there with success before and for the same issue (getting the little rubber things on the heel replaced), but this time they really tried to screw me over. Tried to charge me $50 and say that I ordered a "cleaning" which I absolutely did not. She pointed to the original ticket where "cleaning" was circled in her black pen to which I onted out that the only thing I filled out on that ticket was my name and number in BLUE ink. This surly horrendous wenchasaurus had the audacity to tell me she was going to give me a discount if I never stepped foot in there again. Now I promise you that having my shoe heels capped has cost me $5-10 in the past and I have NEVER asked to have my shoes cleaned so this was a total slap in the face. I have noticed her treat other customers poorly in the past but shrugged it off since I hadn't had any problems before, but after 19 years of taking items there, I'll be going to the other local shoe repair place in Darien. Edited after I wore dress....The alterations did not fit right. The straps that were supposedly adjusted kept falling off my shoulders the entire evening. It was not tight enough in the chest area (I specifically said I needed it taken in a tight). The pads that were "sewed in" were only held by a plastic thing you find on tags on clothes. Extremely disappointed in the alterations and was a complete waste of money. My sister's bridal gown also had straps that were supposedly altered and kept falling off her shoulder all night. I will be going to get it fixed for free or get my money back.*

They do great work but very expensive. If I was aware of this I would have shopped around. It would have been cheaper to get done at the bridal store. The communication on both price and pickup was not good. When asked about price the checkout clerk wasn't sure. The sign said 35 and up. I was shocked when mine was more than double that.
