Edit Nov 2025: I wish I could write another review but all I can do is update my previous one!! As always, Swedish Girl Bakery went above and beyond, I wish I could give them 10 stars! Kirsten is amazing and such a wonderful person and I hope to hire her for all our special occasions. We ordered a custom cake, cookies and cupcakes again this year for our daughter’s second birthday, Bluey themed, and they turned out perfect! It’s rare to find somewhere that’s so allergy friendly and also delicious! Our guests highly complimented the desserts and couldn’t tell they were GF. we were scrambling to set up for the party and Kirsten and her team member even personally arranged and set up all the desserts nicely for us on the dessert table, which was more than they needed to do! We can’t thank you enough, SGB!
Sept 2024: We are so happy to have found Swedish girl bakery to do the cakes and all desserts for our daughter’s first birthday! Our daughter has several food, allergies, including wheat, unbaked egg, nuts, and sesame. She is anaphylactic and we are very hesitant to ever feed her food outside of our home. However, of course, for her first birthday, we wanted her to be able to enjoy desserts at her party. we felt very comfortable with the Swedish girl bakery, and they even helped set up an order for cupcakes with the same ingredients as her future birthday cake a week before so we could try it at home. The cake, cake pops, cookies, and cupcakes were all delicious and you would never know that they are wheat free! They were Also beautifully decorated, exactly what we had envisioned! It’s really hard to find a bakery that can accommodate gluten/wheat free and also make beautiful/cute/aesthetic items! Thank you so much. We will definitely be...
Read moreA small disclaimer - I'm also a (naturalized) Swedish citizen, who (when back in Sweden) calls Göteborg home. / I was happy to find this place open today. I had 'discovered' it a few weeks back but it was closed. Today, unfortunately, I had just come from breakfast so I didn't buy anything. That said, I had wanted to see what was on offer, etc. It's a small place but there were many people (workers and customers) when I was there. I consider that a good sign. Particularly if you are looking for gluten-/nut-free and allergy-friendly bakery goods, I should think people would be very interested in trying this place. Sweden has a big cafe culture and fika tradition so ... I come from that vantage point/with those as my reference. I will be looking forward to trying your kanelbullar mainly to see if they are more similar to Swedish ones or American. Every time my (Swedish) husband Jan comes here to the US, we always discuss making the American-style ones back in Sweden as they are much different. As an aside - I wonder if you make semlor. I can't imagine those NOT being a HUGE hit. I personally prefer the vanilla to the almond but ... I can be flexible with bakery goods ;-) ha ha ha ...
Read moreI came here the other day to order some sweet treats for my upcoming baby shower! I myself have a pretty severe nut allergy along with some other more mild allergies and finding dessert that isn’t a gamble on my life is always so hard. Yes not everything contains nuts but if you have allergies you know that finding food (dessert specifically) that isn’t processed near nuts or on equipment with nuts in INCREDIBLY hard. For my baby shower my husbands nieces are also allergic to milk, eggs, fish and all dairy. This poses a challenge especially for dessert. I came in on a whim and they were able to help me out so easily! Yes it can be a little pricey but I feel like its so worth it! Allergen friendly food is hard to find and even harder to find that actually tastes good! These treats are SO GOOD oh my god. If you love starbucks rice crispies this place tastes just like the ones from there! 10/10 would recommend to literally anyone and everyone. Bonus: the staff is SO SO NICE. Oh my gosh! Great service and great food is wonderful! So excited to order my baby...
