We had wanted to dine here for months. And had looked forward our anniversary dinner tonight. First impression arriving was the parking lot was a skating rink. Had been plowed, but obviously not salted or sanded. 2nd impression was the overflowing cigarette butts in the ashtrays, that flanked the entrance door. Upon entering, we were greeted, and though we had reservations (that stated it was our anniversary) she didn't know how to check the book and just seated us. Both soups on menu (wedding soup & crab bisque) were not available. Substitute was beef barley and broccoli/cheese. The broccoli cheese wife ordered and was very good. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, which was ok, shrimp were large. However, in a normal higher end restaurant, the shrimp are de-veined. These were not. Wife's drink advertised as having muddled raspberry. There was no muddled raspberry.I ordered a dirty martini. And it was a standard martini with olives. Main course: Wife's Steak Diane , filet tips in brandy sauce was good, but only luke warm. I had the Delmonico steak (it is labeled as a steak house...) It was very fatty and grissley. Ordered medium temp and came out as a solid rare. Woman's bathroom trash was overflowing and unkept. Men's bathroom was just satisfactory. Server was disinterested and non attentive. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I will when it is fitting...

My background training in Servesafe food safety had me worried about the temperature of absolutely all of the food not made as you wait. Unfortunately I found nothing that was much above room temp. Not one time did I OBSERVE anyone checking temps as should be the norm. Not to say it didn't HAPPEN, but sitting within 10 feet of the hot food, I didn't SEE anyone temping and documenting it in records. As I stated, the food tasted great, but this observance has me hesitate going back. As other have noted, the decor is a bit odd. No visible theme or continuity to the art work. Plain Jane walls and window treatments do encourage eyes focused on your dining partners. Wait staff was good and bad. Meh. For only maybe a third filled, my table having to request more drinks, ask for a check, wait and wait for card to be taken for the bill, etc. Nothing impolite by any means, just very inattentive. There obviously is a talented and imaginative chef here. It didn't carry over to the...
