Man, I used to LOVE this place⦠š
I used to come here two or three times a week with the intent of getting two or three things and always ended up leaving with a car full- 5 or 6 years ago.. Since returning to Wilmington, I have referred my customers and clients here for all of their organic gardening needs. However, after my experience here today, we will all be finding a better place to do business, particularly one who wants our business. Iām not sure when things took a turn here, but presumably it was during or after Covid like many other places. This used to be the neighborhood friendly go-to place where you didnāt mind spending $5 or $10+ more on an item because it was sold from a small (local) business, the knowledge and expertise and great customer service was always a reassuring factor that kept me and all of my clients coming back. I was so heartbroken over this experience and incredibly rude staff, that I asked one of the helpers who was loading my car up with the soil that I needed about the whole situation to which he responded, āyeah, they always be like that, a lot of people have complained about this..ā This poor guy was so polite and respectful that I really hesitated about posting this. Due to anonymity reasons, Iām not going to repeat how the rest of this conversation went, but I am going to let the public know as well as my customers, because if they will treat a customer so disrespectfully, I canāt imagine the way that they would treat other staff members, especially one whoās willing to speak up about their working conditions and environment..
Given the state of our economic environment, people are far less likely to do business with a local small business when they can drive further out of their way to get a better deal on the supplies that they need, nevermind the fact that most are not even funding this pricey hobby with the current inflation rates! Pair this with terrible customer service and rude employees- Itās only a matter of time before these doors are closed permanently.
For the sake of the employee, who spoke up regarding their working environment, one should understand the laws of āFair & Unjustā termination of employment (that Iām sure you added In the employee handbook) before considering your next move. I am never too busy to help out an individual who has been taken advantage of. *
Suffice it to say, small necessary changes here could make a world of difference, for years to come.
I truly wish this company the best of luck, but sadly, I will no longer be doing business here and neither will my clients. This was not an easy decision to make, but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been a loyal customer for the last 3.5-4yrs. I use to drive from the Carolina Beach side of Wilmington out to TSC in Rocky Point for all my gardening supplies, chicken and pot belly pig feeds, and hay until I discovered Farmers Supply located in the center of Wilmington. Their prices and selection on feed and gardening items are comparable to TSC, but when I go to Farmers Supply they know my name, there's always someone from the staff there to answer any and all of questions, and load my feed and grains into my vehicle which is always helpful. The store is clean, well organized, of they need to order a specialty item the turn around time is usually 3 days, and they have the absolute best selection Ive ever seen of dried heirloom seeds and bulbs!!! Farmer Supply is my go to for all my gardening items and plants and seeds. The only issue I've ever had is the store hours on Sundays and winter hours cause they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday I went to Farmers Supply and was deeply offended. I purchased twine, several weeks ago and wanted to return it and did not have my receipt. Last week I purchased dog food, and asked the clerk about returning my twine. They said since I did not have the receipt they would give me store credit.
Today I purchased fruit spray and was told, in a very unpleasant way, they would not give me a store credit for the twine. I recently moved to Wilmington, but have been frequenting the store from Southport for 19 years, and recommending them to many people in our former community. I did spend hundreds of dollars a year there, but will not go...
