Today was my first visit to Seaview Crab Company in order to satisfy a strong seafood craving today. I have heard that Seaview Crab Company is one of the better crab shacks in town to purchase fresh, local seafood, so I thought I'd try something from their "new"er kitchen, inside of the market. Glad I did.
FOOD: 2 protein combination platter consisting of the day's fresh catch (Flounder) and Scallops. The platter included a choice between mayo-based or vinegar-based cole slaw and fresh fries. The fries were exceptional. Light, hot and crispy exterior, seasoned wonderfully. The Flounder tasted as if it were just caught this morning. The white, flaky fish steamed out of Seaview's signature conrmeal breading, delivering Southern goodness you would expect from a beach town seafood market. Although the preparation of the flounder isn't my #1, SCC isn't far behind. The scallops, however, were the showstopper. Extra-large, thick discs, also fried up in their cormeal batter, will make you say "whoa". The cornmeal, seasoning and portion sizes of the scallops reassure you of a great value! The vinegar-based cole slaw was interesting. I believe SCC uses a balsamic blend, which brings the sweet and tart flavors upfront and is a refreshing side to chew on when you're wanting to cleanse the palate. Although I prefer a mayo-based cole slaw...this one worked well with the fried seafood and provided a balance of light and refreshing with the heavier fried soul food. SCORE: 4.6 STARS!!
SERVICE: The pleasant young lady behind the kitchen ordering station was courteous, accomodating and even chose one of my sides for my meal. I was also offered fresh samples of house-made SCC dips and only waited 7 mins for my hot food. The entire staff inside adhered to COVID safety measures by wearing masks, gloves and practiced social distancing. SCC was a well-oiled machine all the way around and I felt welcomed. SCORE: 5 STARS!!
OVERALL SCORE: FRESH, local seafood market that also has chefs and a staff that prepares it for you, based on their vision? Um...yes, please. The cornmeal breading on their fried seafood is a nice change from others in town and the portion sizes deliver a great value. I felt like a valued guest inside, food was prepared quickly and it tasted amazing. Thank you again for the wonderful meal today! SCORE: 4.8 STARS!!

Read moreI love seaview, being a customer for yearssss for their consistency, wide selection and friendly service. Primarily for blue crabs, but I also purchase other seafood at times. However the last few times I’ve been disappointed. The previous 2x they sold out of crabs b4 I got there. Mind you it’s 10-11am!! I drive from Cumberland county-and call prior to leaving to make sure they have what I want. The first time I was like awe shucks and told them geez I drove here bc you said you had some. Now I understand selling out so I could not really be upset. Then it happened again…I begged and pleaded prior to arriving to prepay so I wouldn’t make the long trip for nothing, but they do not allow that for ‘Jimmy’ crabs is what I was told. Again, can’t be upset, just my luck. This weekend when I arrived they again sold out, but I waited a few hours bc they said they would get another delivery. Once I seen the crabs, they were all very small but what really disappointing is they were selling Jimmys that were the same size as the mixed. They were very noticeably smaller than their normal Jimmys, and sitting right next to the mixed bushel were clearly the same size. However they were sold as ‘jimmys’. The bottoms were very white and crabs lightweight, I knew they weren’t meaty but after driving and waiting I brought them anyway. Half of them were empty and the shells were soft. These were the worst quality crabs I’ve ever purchased from Seaview! This is just a rant.. I’m pouting like a baby bc I LOVE my blue crabs!!! I dont mind driving or paying but I want my...
Read moreWas charged incorrectly for 4 lbs of large shrimp. I called the same day to tell them I was charged incorrectly and they told me to come back the next day with my receipt for either a store credit or refund. When I came in with my receipt, the manager claimed I was given the jumbo shrimp despite me ordering and watching employee give me the large shrimp. Then he stated that the price for large shrimp was different than what it was when I purchased it yesterday. I know seafood prices change, but to say that the price of large shrimp was $1 less/lb than jumbo is a bit wild to me. But when I came in it was then $3 less/lb than jumbo, which was higher than it was the day before (but the manager says he just dropped the price, not raised it). I don't think I would drive 30 minutes for $4 price discrepancy. I hope the loss of business was worth the $18-$20 difference. Eagle Island is closer to my house anyway.
I've included a picture of the shrimp purchased that the manager swore were jumbo. I have purchased their jumbo maybe once in all the years I've utilized them. I ALWAYS buy large...
