Market Basket — Local services in Wilmington

For the most part, this Market Basket location is amazing! It’s not only conveniently located, but has a great selection and a similar floorplan to many of the other stores so it’s easy to get in and out. Today I was super impressed with an employee working the Mexican food section who tried to check inventory on a truck that been unloaded so I could get the taco shells I wanted for my little girls birthday celebration. Unfortunately, she couldn’t locate them but it was definitely the kindness and care that I was so impressed by. One of the only downside to this location, as well as many others, is that market basket hires lots of minority workers who do not speak the local language. Fortunately for me, I speak Spanish and I’m usually able to communicate with said workers, but I think it’s quite wild that most people coming and going in the store do not speak Spanish and would be sadly disappointed/frustrated if they ran into the situation I encountered. Today, for example, I went to the produce section and just needed directed to the limes and the lady stocking looked at me very puzzled and told me she doesn’t speak English. This seems like a common question/phrase and even the words are very similar in both languages. I ask her in Spanish and got to where I needed to go. I really wish that Market Basket would at least support these people by offering some free classes or partnering with organizations that do free classes or even reimbursing English lessons for those who are working for them. customers and the employees, and the entire organization would benefit from this...

Wider variety of products than at other Market Basket stores. Mgmt is on the ball to be helpful and problem solvers.

Parking issues, though, can be hazardous. For the most part, drivers in town can be self-absorbed! Talking on Cells, more concerned with getting rhe best spot to park in, that they fail to be AWARE of those on foot, in WCs, or using walkers! Drivers so concentrated on getting there FIRST, to that perfect parking spot, that they are cutting corners, running up/over curbs, driving! nearly on Top of those persons unable to jump out of way!

Police in town need to spend more time then just circling the lot a couple of times per shift. They need to be ISSUING tickets, to those behind the wheel of cars, who make crossing the parking lot to get into the store subject...

I wanted to leave this review to give a special shout out to Lisa in the prepared food department. I called on Sunday an hour before closing and asked if they could make 15 subs. Lisa answered the phone and, despite being busy, promised to do her best to get the subs done as soon as possible. When I arrived just 15 minutes later, the large order of turkey subs was nearly finished. What Lisa didn't know was that we were having a gathering after my aunt's funeral, and many more people showed up than expected, causing us to run out of food within the first hour. I truly appreciate Lisa going the extra mile on such a difficult day for my family. Hope this review finds its way back to her so that her and the other two staff members know how thankful I am for...
